Confirmed sighting: Kellogg's Special K Peach & Apricot
Posted: 10:13 Thu 20-03-2003. Price: 2.39/ 375g. Location: Sainsbury. Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
Snackspot reports: following the "success" of Special K Red Berries and the (more controversial) Crunchy Nut Red, Kellogg have gone to "yellow" alert by adding undifferentiated bits of freeze-dried fruit which claim to be pieces of apricot and peach (can you tell the difference?). Compared to even the Jordan's cereal with strawberries in, this is a disappointment - though nonetheless raises the exciting possibility that Kellogg will eventually heed David Letterman's suggestion and rename the original product "Ordinary K". Or maybe "Kellogg's Factory Floor Mystery Crunch" - that cracks me up every time. Disappointingly, the TV ad for this *Very* Special K doesn't even feature that noted cereal-marketing cliche, Liquid pouring and splashing up into the air - what *are* Kellogg thinking?

Comment: I'm in the lucky position of having a person on the inside at Kellogg's, so I knew about Special K Peach & Apricot some time ago. From the same source, I can reveal that the next major assault on the nation's breakfast nooks will be in the form of... Banana Crunch Cornflakes - Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes with Bananas in. You heard it here first.

Comment: Firstly yellow bits in Special K are invisible, secondly the delicate peachy/apricot flavour is completely obliterated by taste of the wheat flakes. This renders the combination utterly pointless as you might as well be eating "Ordinary K" in the first place. Oh and if you get distracted and leave your breakfast for a minute or two, the whole lot turns into what looks like a bowl of sick. Seriously unpleasant.

Comment: i don't know what is wrong with you people. i think special k with "yellow fruit" (as it is called in italy) is the best thing to ever hit the cereal market (besides special k with "red fruit"). although i'll admit that there aren't enough pieces of fruit in the former, i find the taste very pleasant. 75317 4 72
