Confirmed sighting: Asda Junglers/ Golden Balls
Posted: 10:01 Mon 14-04-2003. Price: 1.38 for 425g. Location: Asda, Cambridge.
"James" reports: Lots of new cereals appearing on the shelves! Junglers are like smaller Rice Crispies, with 'bananas' - small banana shaped pieces made of something unknown. I also tried Asda Golden Balls (1.34/ 375g), taste similar to Honey Nut Loops. Haven't tried Kellogg's X-Men cereal yet (about 1.90/ box). Snackspot doesn't usually cover own-brand innovations, but the unidentifiable "bananas" (plus advance mention of Kellogg's X-Men 2: The Cereal) made this hard to resist. Word on the street had also rumoured that Kellogg's Bart-Simpson-themed "Eat My Shorts" was going to replace Homer's "No Problemos" (and so the achievements of the son ultimately eclipse those of the father), but I've just spotted both of them in my local Sainsbury's happily co-existing side-by-side.

Comment: Actually, I just saw "Bart Simpson's No Problemos" in the Co-op. I'm getting confused.

Comment: Yeah, it might be me getting confused - they were officially "Bart Simpson's No Problemos", but didn't they have a pic of Homer on the "Mini-Chocolatey Biscuit" components? Or maybe it was just somewhere on the box...

Comment: If you remember a cheap snack called "Bettabar" - a bar of Rice Krispies in a hard toffeeish coating - you'll find X-Men 2 very familiar. Rock-hard little bites shaped like the original Outer Spacers (a cross in a circle) with a sweet but quite delicate taste. Very nice, but at about three times the price of Corn Flakes they bloody should be.

Comment: I've finally tried the X-Men cereal. They're nice, although I would have preferred them to be bigger. The box claims 'Mixed Cereal Shapes', but they're all the same. Anyone know what they mean?
