Advance sighting: Nestle (Mini) Nuts
Posted: 22:39 Thu 17-04-2003.
"An insider" (who helps supply petrol stations, corner shops etc) provides this tantalising glimpse of the future: a pack of Nestle "Mini" Nuts. He adds: "I'm guessing they are a 'fun-size' version of a larger new product. Anyway, each small bar is about 4cm by 2cm by 2cm approx. Chocolate covered nougat with nuts. Not unpleasant but not exactly ground breaking either!" More cosmopolitan vistors to the site may indeed recognise this as a "Mini" UK version of the Nestle Nuts bar native to Germany (and possibly South Africa?). What's interesting is that, in these allergy-afflicted times, the nuts on the packet look more like hazelnuts than peanuts, so they don't appear to be going after Mars' hugely successful Snickers market, but instead the somewhat lower-profile "hazelnut in every bite" of Mars Topic.

Comment: Found a 5-pack of the "full size" version of these going for 99p in the Europa on Queensway (London W2). Verdict: disgusting, like a giant hazelnut and nougat Quality Street that's been left on the shelf for way too long.

Comment: Please help this Yank!

My Ex-girlfriend fell in love with "Nestle Nuts" candy bars while in Great Britain last year. There seems to be no way for me to acquire those candies here in "the States." I would do nearly anything to put a smile on her face. Please help me. roadshowmace (at!) aol.com

Comment: Yuk, Nestle Nuts is vile! Poor quality chocolate, and poor quality filling.

Comment: For DJ Mace - I too have been searching endlessly for the Nuts bars and am having trouble even in England - The store where I used to get them on Holloway road has stopped selling them even though they sold out as rapidly as they came in (by me)....Nestle website doesn't show them anymore but I did come across a dutch website which does sell them...I will need my dutch friend to interpret but their website is http://www.lekker-hollands.nl if you want to have a look for yourself....Good luck and please post me any discoveries you have...Also I'd love to know where you bought yours in the UK...Thanks xx

Comment: Found a full size Nestle Nuts in Newcastle Train Station WH Smiths. Bizzarely, it seems to be continental - the heading up the ingredients list is French, while English clocks in at about eighth. I'd never even heard of these before spotting it, and figured it was a first. Curse the comprehensiveness of this database!

I rather like it - the caramel is superb. It's like a Snickers, only without the depleted uranium-esque weight. Nothing too hideous in the ingredients list either.

Comment: WH Smiths seems to be the place to get them. They had them in their branch in Southampton general hospital. 33435 7
