Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: Walkers Sensations Slow Roasted Lamb and Mint/ Oriental Crackers
Posted: 18:21 Mon 19-05-2003. Price: 39p for a single pack. Location: Morrisons, Wakefield. Sub-flavours: Tangy Tomato Red Pepper and Salsa (Sensations); Peking Spare Rib and Five Spice, Thai Lemongrass and Coconut, Tangy Malaysian Chutney (Crackers). Nutritional unusualness: Contains "lamb powder".
"Alex" reports: Well, these remind me of a Sunday Roast, with a lamb covered in mint jelly. These crisps taste like it as well. They are quite nice, but too much of them wouldn't be a very good thing. I couldn't see the new Sensation crackers either. Well, you should have kept looking, Alex, because "ChoccieMan" swiftly located the Thai Lemongrass version in Tesco Southampton, describing them as "Nothing very special. Average 'hot'-ish prawn crackers, no real taste of lemon or coconut there (well perhaps a bit of lemon, but mostly just hot taste)". The Peking Spare Rib ones (flavoured with "pork powder") are refreshingly meaty, though no-one seems to have tracked down the Tangy Malaysian Chutney yet. But the most surprising thing about the actual crackers is that, despite being made from "Indonesian Cassava", the snack they most closely resemble is none other than KP Skips.

Comment: Still can't see Tangy Tomato.

have they been delayed?

Comment: Asda in Peterborough have all flavours of new sensations and crackers. The tangy tomato does taste exactly like Doritos salsa.

Comment: in Reading: Waitrose has the rib flavour, whilst the local 7-11 type shop has all three (Lamb sold out). Rib flavour quite spicy, but the crackers so-so. Also only 100g compared to 150g in the crisp packets

Comment: I've had the Thai Lemongrass crackers.

One thing-where's the coconut?

Comment: Deli Deligts in North Sheild sells the whole range...Lamb and mint are the greatest crisp ever

Comment: Just found the Tangy Malaysian Chutney crackers - maybe, like the Tangy Tomato Salsa, they only come in a 100g (£1.45) bag: http://www.snackspot.org.uk/thread.php?story=0306091218cas (something to do with their inherent tanginess, I expect, rather than being the most boring flavours of the lot)

Comment: The Peking Spare rib and 5 spices are absolutely delicious. I just finished off a bag and it really was a taste 'sensation'. I've been dubious of this Sensations range but now I'm a full convert after these and the equally brilliant Thai Chilli flavour. Three cheers for Walkers, and a further cheer for the Peking spare rib crackers!

Comment: Re Walkers Sensations Tangy Malaysian Chutney flavour - saw a large bag of these on sale in the kiosk at the Odeon Leicester Square in London last week (Terminator 3 - best of the three!). However, since they were massively overpriced at £2+ I didn't purchase. Not seen them anywhere else so now regret being so tight! Wonder how they compare with Philias Fogg's Chutney Poppodoms (where are they now?).....

Comment: Has anyone else yet experienced the glory that is Mini Poppadums? I think the brand-name is Raj...they come in a Pringles-esque tube, and they're like...well, little tiny poppadums each about an inch in diameter, right down to that weird cauliflower-like taste, and with quite a zing. Highly recommended if you like having all your bodily fluids leached out through your tongue, and of course pretending to be an oversized subject of British Imperial rule between 1786 and 1857...

Comment: I munched through a bag of Walkers Sensations poppadoms yesterday - Chicken Pasanda flavour. Absolutley delicious. Was absentmindedly munching whilst watching telly, then my hand reached the bottom of the bag and I couldn't believe they'd all gone! Got a bag of cool mint and yoghurt to try as well though. I love the Sensations snacks!

Comment: I live near Sunderland and Durham, does anyone know where I can buy Doritos EXTRA HOT SALSA DIP? I can get the HOT but no one seems to keep the EXTRA HOT now. I've tried Pringles Fiery, but I don't like it the same.
