Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: McCain Micro Toastie
Posted: 20:28 Thu 12-06-2003. Price: Free!. Location: Asda West Bridgford, Nottingham. Sub-flavours: Cheese 'n' Ham. Nutritional unusualness: Hmm... Emulsifying Salts.
"Tim Emanuel" reports: Free samples of these were being distributed outside Asda by a collection of people in fetching McCain themed outfits. I can't imagine that this promotion is in any way helpful to them, as it's difficult to imagine anyone who's had a free taste going back and paying actual money for them. Cooking it as per the instructions (yes, I even let it stand) provided an unevenly cooked product consisting of soggy "toast", containing bland cheese substitute flavour glop, some of it heated to supernuclear temperatures, some cold and a minimal amount of tasteless ham. I wasn't a big fan. Tim, I'd advise you to check the turntable in your microwave, because Snackspot has nothing but positive experiences of this range (especially their microwaveable garlic bread, which is pure 800W genius). Ironically, this current sampling campaign is supposed to be promoting their two new Micro Toastie fillings - Chilli and Cheese 'n' Onion - while their Tandoori Micro Chicken Wings are apparently being replaced by Chinese and Tikka variants. This may be a response to the entry into the market of Bernard Matthews, who'll be launching microwaveable Turkey Nugget Hot Pops at an introductory price of just 99p.

Comment: Havent you heard? England has turned into a country of lazy basatrds.

Comment: True, but is it any easier to microwave a toastie? than make one of your own and use a toastie maker?
Posted: 14:17 Tue 27-Jun-2006 by "Phillerena" # permalink comment
Comment: I would say so. To make your own you need to get the bread out and prepare the filling, then arrange it on the bread. With the micro toastie, I presume you just bung it in the microave in a little box.

Comment: Oh my god, how hard is it to get some bread out, grate some cheese and throw in something spicy? then close the toastie lid and wait for 2 minutes? and i thought i was lazy..

Comment: Not just Britain, America is far worse, on working lunch the other day, Adrian Chiles was in Wyoming, USA in a supermarket talking to this lady who explained that everyone there buys disposable paper plates to eat food off so they don't have to wash anything up! now that's fudgin lazy! 94534 5
