Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: Del Monte Kiwi and Papaya Sorbet
Posted: 00:11 Mon 30-06-2003. Price: 99p. Location: Newsagent, Camden, London. Sub-flavours: Orange. Nutritional unusualness: also contains Passionfruit and Apple juice.
Snackspot reports: I'm fairly certain I had their ordinary Orange Maid-style "wrapped impulse product" (the technical term for lolly) earlier this year, but Del Monte have clearly got more adventurous since then. This has pale pink Papaya-flavoured sorbet making up the top half, with a pastel green Kiwi Fruit-flavoured lower section. Both are of course from Del Monte's World Fruits range of juices, raising the possibility they may be following it up with a sorbet cocktail of, I dunno, Peruvian Star Fruit and Costa Rican Banana? In other chilling developments: the ever-terrifying FoodlineWeb reports that frozen food superstore Iceland has launched "a non-melting ice lolly" (1.29 for 10), which turns itself into a "fruity jelly" as it gets warmer instead (maybe it's 14% wood pulp or something?). And The Grocer reports the withdrawal of ill-fated fruity lager brand Holsten Fusion, which apparently suffered because "it was not widely available in bars" and not, for instance, because customers found the idea of drinking "citrus", "apple" or "currant" flavoured lager intuitively disgusting.

Comment: Nickles are not just American coinage. Mango and Passionfruit is the other flavour. Though there is supposed to be a coconut one that I didn't see in the supermarches this summer. 97687 4
