Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: McVitie's Black Treacle Creams
Posted: 23:04 Mon 30-06-2003. Price: 79p. Location: Tufnell Park, London. Sub-flavours: Golden Syrup Creams. Nutritional unusualness: Hey, calling them "Creams" sounds better than "Partially hydrogenated vegetable oils".
"tomaldo" reports: The packaging of these biscuits immediately reminded me of the ancient can of Lyle's black treacle that lingered in my mum's larder for what seemed like decades. These new arrivals are in the common "biscuit cream" format, with two circular biscuits separated by a layer of "cream". The black treacle flavoured biscuits make the product to my mind more interesting than the average biscuit cream, if still a little sickly. Ideally consumption should be accompanied by a cup of tea. And a sit down. Tom is no doubt referring there to the notoriously publicity-shy biscuit site NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown, whose friendly relations with McVitie's enabled them to review the Lyle's Treacle crossovers way back in March of this year. As luck would have it, Snackspot is now taking a week or two off for the summer break (the site will be updated during this period, just not as often), so feel free to hang out at NiceCupOfTea in the interim, just as long as you come back if/when you tire of their (almost obsessively?) biscuit-based view of the world.
