Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: Kellogg's Frosties Turbos
Posted: 14:14 Tue 19-08-2003. Price: 1.89/ 500g. Location: Sainsburys, Southampton. Nutritional unusualness: "Turbo-charged with great tasting chocolate cereal energy sparks".
"ChoccieMan" reports: I've always been a fan of Frosties so I couldn't resist these (my other fave cereal is Coco Pops so what a good combination). I think they've got the combination just right, not too much chocolate that it overwhelms the Frosties (chocolate Frosties are bit OTT) but enough to make a difference to every bite. Despite the description on the packet the chocolate pieces don't "spark" like Nerds or Wonkalate bars. They basically taste like a weak version of Wheetos. What I don't understand is the other varieties of Frosties currently have free CD-ROM PC grand prix games on them but these don't, does that make any sense?

...None at all, ChoccieMan, and the same goes for the bizarre on-screen disclaimer in their TV ad: "Striped car not in game". Still, I'm intrigued by Kellogg's current offer of Free Bestsellers from amazon.co.uk, with minimal indication of what the titles of these "bestsellers" might be. Then again, if any cereal-eaters have any "spare" codes they're not using (they're printed in near-invisible ink on the inside of the box), maybe they could post them below (though it would be polite if anyone who's subsequently used codes they've obtained in this way could also post to let everybody else know).

Comment: Whilst the taste might be similar to chocolate frosties for the chocolate pieces, they're not shaped the same as frosties and also are heavier in milk. This can lead to ordinary milk on top of chocolate milk in your bowl (assuming you add quite a lot of milk to the frosties) which looks (and tastes) a bit odd. I personally think they've found a good 'middle ground' between standard and chocolate frosties. Cinnamon sounds good though.

Comment: The adverts also say that the games are "not compatible with Mac" which is a curious phrasing seeing as they're presumably also not compatible with Linux, PlayStations, X-Boxes and many, many more. Could be the basis of a complaint to the ITC for the pedants out there.

Comment: I should imagine the CD's are included due to the enormous popularity of the cereals with CD's in them in America and Canada very family friendly games like life, monopoly etc. I hope they get Disney Magix Cereal here. I don't understand why they have the winnie the pooh and not the others. Oh well
