Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: Ben and Jerry's Birthday Batch Oatmeal Cookie Chunk
Posted: 17:18 Thu 25-09-2003. Location: Sainsbury's, Southampton. Nutritional unusualness: Cinnamon ice cream.
"ChoccieMan" reports: Sorry I've been sitting on this sighting for quite a few weeks but this is still out there and tastes a lot better than it sounds... OK maybe I don't get out much but cinnamon ice cream is a new one on me and doesn't sound that enticing, but being a "friend of the girth" I felt obligated to try this one. All I can say is B+J's do it again, this is a fantastic ice cream product (OK B+J's is also one of the most expensive ice cream's too). The cinnamon ice cream tastes of cinnamon but it actually works and is really subtle. But the best bit of this product are the oatmeal cookie chunks, they really do taste like oatmeal cookies fresh from the oven. I can't convey how good these little chunks taste, they've gotta be one of the best B+J filling types ever! Add to that the smattering of dark chocolate bits and overall it is a pretty satisfying product, as well as not being too "overloading" like some of their other products (chocolate fudge brownie, Phish Food being prime examples).

...And it's back to "ChoccieMan" again, after a well-earned 48 hours' break. Speaking of which, the Ben and Jerry's "Birthday Batch" tub proudly proclaims "Still crazy after 25 years!", so let's hope that mental illess is covered under the Unilever employee health plan.

Comment: Will look out for this at the weekend - but don't diss the Phish Food...

Comment: I've 'sampled' several tubs of this, and can confirm it is every bit as good as ChoccieMan reports. The bad news, I'm fairly sure this is a limited edition (hence the birthday batch).

Comment: sorry to say cinamon ice cream and oat meal cookie chunks was my first taste of B+J's. I was in heaven, I bought it as a treat and pulled the flavor out of a huge freezer full of an overwhelming amount of flavors. I have been back several times buying more. I couldn't imagine an ice cream with such a natural oatmeal and cinamon flavor.

Comment: phish food and half baked rock but i am still on the lookout for a Ben and Jerry flavour that I do not like. There is always a chance that the Birthday Batch will be here to stay as those great people in Vermont keep a very close eye on our comments so keep them coming. I am in Australia now so I have to order mine from america which is a pain but as soon as i dip in my shovel and get that first taste I know it is worth it.

Comment: You have to try Dublin Mudslide, i mean i started off as Phish Food being my fave, then it was Fossil Fuel and now its Dublin Mudslide. The only problem now: How do i sample the american flavours where there's a lot more flavours to try. 56032 8
