Posted: 11:30 Mon 03-11-2003. Price: 69p. Location: Sainsbury's, North London. Sub-flavours: None noted. Nutritional unusualness: "Whole crushed STRAWBERRIES 13%, crushed BANANAS 9%" - remainder of "100% Fruit" consists of apple, orange and grape juice "from concentrate".
Snackspot reports: A Fruit Squidger-style squeezable sachet of "just 100% crushed fruit, juice and nothing else" from Ant McPartlin's heavily promoted Smoothies company (site requires Flash, sorry). To be honest, I'm not really a fan of runny banana-based beverages anyway, but well done to the manufacturers (actually "Pete and Johnny PLC" of Newark, UK) for not permitting what you might expect to be the main flavour of strawberries to overwhelm that distinctive aftertaste of grape.

...In other liquid news: BevNet is back from the National Association of Convenience Stores show with a round-up of new US products including "shelf-stable" fizzy dairy drink Sparkling Cow; The Grocer reports a "major revamp" of the Robinsons squash range, including the launch of Fruit Spring early next year; but what do you care, when unsubstantiated Snackspot rumours predict that Pepsi Blue will be "out in the UK by December 15th"? Start checking your stools today!
