Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: KFC Smokey Blue Tower Burger
Posted: 20:45 Mon 22-12-2003. Price: 3.79/ meal deal. Location: Swiss Cottage. Sub-flavours: N/A. Nutritional unusualness: Smokey BBQ and Creamy Blue Cheese Tower Burger with Hash Brown and Cheese.
Snackspot reports: Bit of a weird one, this - it's like KFC were trying to jazz up their standard Hash Brown Tower Burger (assuming they have one), but either Smokey BBQ or Creamy Blue Cheese sauce were "a bit much" by themselves. Ingenious solution: add them both, so you're so confused by the combination that you can't really focus on how weird they are, either in combination (a bit like toothpaste and orange juice?), or on their own. Like KFC's Pepsi Drift, top marks for innovation, but no idea if I'd ever buy it again.

...In other meaty mayhem: following the pioneering suggestions of "charl", two US chains are now offering giant "bunless burgers", wrapped "in large leaves of iceberg lettuce"; UK manufacturing company Linpac has devised a range of "yuck-free" packaging which absorbs "unsightly" juices from supermarket meat; and Pot Noodle are rumoured to be using the slogan "Eet is dirty and you want eet" to launch their perhaps unfortunately named new flavour Mexican Fajita Seedy Sanchez.

Comment: Thje newly opened Hamburger Union (http://www.hamburgerunion.com) on Garrick Street, near Covent Garden in London offer lettuce leaves as an alternative to buns. The Atkins Diet is everywhere! The chips and (bunned!) burgers weren't bad.

Comment: This travesty-burger is available in Lancaster. The "blue-cheese" sauce is altogether too authentic in it's portrayal of mold and corruption for my liking - one can't help thinking that it is not so much a deliberate flavour as an accidental (though predictable) side-effect of recycling the bin contents to save money - I mean, "add value" ahem..

Comment: I sampled the smokey blue today with a threesome of hot wings from a chicken. I found the chicken to be succulent and was most surprised to see the oozing of two sauces. However, after this surprise had subsided i thoroughly enjoyed the tasty morsal and would consider another in the near future.
