Confirmed sighting: Copella New Flavour Apple and Blackberry
Posted: 14:48 Thu 26-02-2004. Price: (introductory promotional price?) 99p/ litre. Location: Sainsbury's Finchley Road, London. Nutritional unusualness: "Simple, natural, honest, true, unspoilt by many of the artificial elements of modern life, Copella reflects the timeless values of the Suffolk countryside".
reports: So I was looking for something to wash down my hearty meal of Sainsbury's Bucks Fizz and Strawberry Soup, but Tropicana Limited Edition Mediterranean Blush ("made from hand picked juicy sanguinellos and luscious mandarins") turned out to be just a red, slightly bitter tasting mandarin juice. Fortunately, Tropicana subsidiary Copella's new blackberry mix was just 99p a bottle and, apart from its slightly darker colour, almost indistinguishable from their (currently pricier) Apple and Raspberry flavour. Not sure which of the the timeless values of the Suffolk countryside they're reflecting by being owned by Pepsico, though.
...In other beverage bulletins: BevNet has the latest on soy-based health drinks Soy2O (now without "unpleasant taste, appearance, or odor") plus ex Red Bull staffers' me-too budget energy rush Roaring Lion, while The Grocer reports the original company have had some success with their Red Bull Barako canned coffee drink in the Philippines, although Ireland appears to be "reviewing" whether to join France, Sweden and Denmark's ban of Red Bull classic.
