Click pic to view comments Confirmed sighting: Nestle Double Chocolate/ Double Berry
Posted: 17:16 Fri 05-03-2004. Price: (trial price) 29p. Location: Local shop. Nutritional unusualness: Freeze dried fruit (berry), 20% milk solids minimum (chocolate).
"Alex" reports: The shape has changed. It is now a flat strip of chocolate with the little bits of fruit, and roasted cocoa nibs. The white chocolate of Double Berry is extremely nice and moorish, but the raspberry and blackcurrant pieces aren't that special and seem to have come straight out of a cereal bar. Perhaps berry flavouring would have made the bar nicer. The Double Chocolate is a chocolate lover's dream. A big bar of "pure" chocolate with roasted nibs which give a coffee hint. I'm not a fan of coffee unfortunately, but this is still good. I think the Double Berry is the best of the two, but they should return to their original state. However "We've listened to you, and left this chocolate as it comes", as they tell us on the back of Double Chocolate.

..."Alex" here confirms "bob's" previous alert, and concludes a week of excellently up-to-the minute sightings. Well done everybody - and don't forget to tune in next time for the latest on the Australian Honeycomb Picnic and the arrival of Kinder Happy Hippos here in the UK.

Comment: they have been out for a while and i'm sure they are a relaunch as a few years ago they came in a funky tin rather than the cheap cardboard they are now in.

Comment: Ah fame, the Kaptain is famous, he should demand the fees of a pro kamera man. It took the Kaptain a bit of effort to pose the kandy in the correct manner, but a good image was created.

Perhaps the Kaptain should set up 'Kaptain Korolev's Kandy Kamera Kapture Klub'

Comment: That's a load of rubbish, they've been selling them in our local newsagents for weeks and I have a wrapper in front of me. It doesn't taste at all of coffeeat all. It contains roasted cocoa bean, not roasted coffee bean pieces! What you're tasting are pieces of bitter chocolate! Duh!

Comment: There was a big display box in WH Smiths in Heathrow Terminal 2 on Monday, but it was empty :-( Luckly Asda had the new bars, but not the rebranded Double Cream. From the picture you should be able to see the change in branding, and that the new bars are smaller (35g compared to 45g) The Berry bar has 2% freeze dried fruit (Blackcurrant and Raspberry). They taste like the bits in breakfast cereal, and seemed to mainly consist of pips. The Double Chocolate's roasted cocoa bits taste more like bits of instant coffee, which whilst not unpleasant, but not great either.

Comment: Two things I forgot to mention. 1) The Double Cream is still in 8 chunks, whilst the new bars are both single slams with a Nestlé logo embossed. So I guess suppose to eat them in one go - which is fine me 2) The chocolate in the Double Chocolate bar is not the same as the Double Cream. The taste is not so rich, and the cocoa content is a smidgen less.

Comment: The chocolate in the Double Chocolate is criminally bad; it is, in fact, the same stuff you get in the middle of a Feast, and i claim my five pounds. The original poster is clearly a few short.

PS Yes, i know i'm a month and a half behind the power curve here. This is just for the historical record.

Comment: What? The Double Chocolate is one of the best bars currently on sale. The dark chocolate pieces are like a very rich dark chocolate. If you think they taste like coffee you need a new tongue.

Comment: I beg to differ, Captain - the "best bar currently on sale" *is* the bar you get in the middle of a Feast!

If only there was an easier way to purchase them by themselves...

Comment: What is the weight?

SMall bar - 45p, xgrams Large bar - 135p, 125 grams

The large bar is a lump, like the smaller ones. I stupidly put it in the freezer, like I do all chocolate, then had to get a screwdriver and smash it apart. Fragmented chocolate = nice :D
