Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Milky Bar Mini Muffin Treats Confirmed sighting: Milky Bar Mini Muffin Treats
Posted: 12:05 Wed 31-03-2004. Price: 1.98/ tub of 15. Location: Asda, Longwell Green. Nutritional unusualness: No sign of partially-hydrogenated vegetable fats/ oils.
"Stuart Campbell" reports: It's nice to see a Milky Bar spinoff product free of the deadly results of partial hydrogenation, but these tiny muffins would frankly have been better off left alone. The muffins themselves are perfectly nice, but the Milky Bar filling is a heavy, dense lump of extremely sugary icing, both harder and sweeter than, say, the filling of a Milky Bar biscuit (though this may be an illusion caused by it being in a thick blob), and it jars quite badly with the delicate and light spongey casing around it. The Milky Bar core is quite small, and hence doesn't entirely ruin the muffin, but if the idea of these appeals you'd frankly be better off just buying a couple of normal muffins and a normal Milky Bar instead.

...And just when we thought we'd seen the last of the craze for turning undeserving chocolate bars into muffins, eh? Anyway, I'm also enjoying the "new look" Independent Retail News, which this week reveals a May launch for Nestle Kit Kat Orange Kubes, and confirms previous Snackspot comment prophecy on the arrival later that month of Fruity Smarties - "chewy fruit sweets whose flavour does not match the colour on the outside" (35p for 45g).

Comment: Rude message found on Aero bars (I'm buying a multi-pack this afternoon to try my luck or should that be "Fu..") http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_907988.html

An investigation is underway at a Nestle factory after a rude message was found on thousands of Aero wrappers.

According to a source at the factory in York, the words "S**t bar" appeared where the Best Before date and code would normally be printed.

The company said a "misprint" had occurred, but added that none of the bars had left the factory.

A spokeswoman declined to confirm what the words were, but said the company took the matter very seriously, says the York Evening Press.

Comment: ... it was just the yellow ones I think, and the chocolate inside was yellow too. I think they were pinapple flavoured. Someone else MUST remember?

Comment: No sighting of the Orange Kit Kat cubes, but see the Orange Kit Kat Chunky loads of places. BTW what's the deal with Hershey licencing KitKat from Nestlé when they are competitors? Hershey World even has a 'Take A Break' room!
