Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Muller McVities Corners Confirmed sighting: Muller McVities Corners
Posted: 12:25 Tue 06-04-2004. Price: 3 for 1.09, in my case. Location: My local corner shop, somewhere near Leeds. Sub-flavours: Penguin, Jaffa Cake and Chocolate Digestive. Nutritional unusualness: All use vanilla yoghurt.
"Kim" reports: The Jaffa Cakes one is quite nice, although the so-called "smashing orangey sauce" is a bit too much for a yogurt. The Penguin one, on the other hand, doesn't have enough sauce (chocolate this time), although I suspect I might have just got a particularly sauce-deficient one. It also happens to taste absolutely nothing like a Penguin bar in any way whatsoever. The Digestives one is probably the best of the lot - surprisingly good despite being rather plain.

...Another close run thing here, with "Kim's" sighting both providing a better pic (I know, you should have seen the other one ;) and arriving mere hours before that of "Matthew", who paid 1.89 for 6 at the Norwich Morrisons and defended the "Penguin" one's reputation as follows: Morrisons is proving to be a hive of new product activity. Anyway, I'm a fan of the Penguin one, which has chocolate sauce and little biscuit pieces much like the old Chukkas. All goes together quite well, and is nice. The Digestive one is fine, but a bit.. well, dull. And the Jaffa Cakes one my mum loves, but I don't get on with the orange sauce idea. So a partial success, then. And here's hoping this all makes up for "Kim" getting "really annoyed" over the whole Happy Hippos fiasco.

Comment: Hey, my picture wasn't THAT bad! :) Blame my digital camera not working, and meaning I was stuck with the ol' webcam..

Comment: haha only kidding M, the effort is always appreciated. One day I'll get round to writing a "tips for picture submissions" page - #1: try to pose the product in as "natural" a setting as you are comfortable with - eg, with one corner of the foil lid tantalisingly pulled back, or perhaps leaning coquettishly against a spoon

Comment: You're making yoghurts sound quite pornographic. Well done.

Comment: I thought the Penguin one was quite nasty. Looking forward to trying the Digestives one though I haven't seen these McVities corners anywhere- the one I had was from a vending machine at work.

Comment: Hey, Snackspot! Just to annoy you further, I just submitted the Bounty Mango Ice Cream for your consideration. Add that to the Virgin Sours, Tizer 'ItzRed But..' and Sunny Delight Summer Fruits in my stockpile of potential 'where are my sightings?' moans.. :)

Comment: yes M, nothing enrages me more than your frustratingly just-slightly-out-of-focus webcam pics - I'm like the Incredible Hulk in that respect ;)

(also, still kicking myself for accidentally categorising this one under "Sweets, biscuits, cakes" when it's clearly a "Cereals, puddings, icecream" - what *was* I thinking?)

Comment: Not sure about these new 'Yoghurts'. The Jaffa cake one I thought the yoghurt was too much like a mousse for me and I've just had the penguin one and to be honest it bares no resemblance to the choccy bar what's so ever. My 12 year old daughter and her friend also didn't like them. I do believe these will be a FLOP

Comment: Have to agree with Jo. I think they have made a mistake with these new 'Yogurts'. The Digestive one is the best of the 3 but the other 2 - YUK. Had the Penguin one today - the yoghurt bit tasted more toffee than vanilla

Comment: Thing is, though, how could they have improved them? You've got the whole of the McVities product range to play with. I say keep the Digestive one, change the Jaffa Cakes to Ginger Nuts (ginger biscuit, vanilla yoghurt, lemon sauce like the lemon cheesecake flavour), and... erm.. Hobnobs?

Comment: I disagree, i thought the penguin yoghurt was really tasty, the jaffa cake one was nice but I agree that the orange sauce is a bit too much. The digestives one was nice 2!

Comment: have tried the digestive corner and found it very plesurable indeed. i like the thick, creamy yogurt juxtaposed with the hard, crunchy balls!!! is there a lemon dessert corner? note corner not light as i do not appreciate soggy cake bits!!!

Comment: I remember when it was 3 for 99p, blimey!

Fruit corners made me sick once, but crunch/desert corners rule. I would try this for sure, as many of the 'corner' deserts have shoddy side ingredients, like stale=ish rice krispies.

Comment: I was quite upset when I bought my 6 pack of American Corner Yoghurts, only to find when I had opened the Alabama Chocolate Fudge Cake, there was no biscuit/chocolate in the corner part of the container. The other Alabama CFC was the same - I felt cheated. Surely this must have affected all the rest on the production line of this flavour? Please reply. Mrs B Baines

Comment: I totally disagree with yogurts. They are over priced and they contain far to may aditives. I dont let my children eat them as they smell odd, nothing like reallyyogurt. I was brought up on a dairy farm and my father would make fresh yogurt, that was lovely, so fresh and tasty. but yours are rubbish I tink yuo should think twicer about what you put in them!
