Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Walkers Wotsits Flamin' Hot/ Wotsits Twisted Confirmed sighting: Walkers Wotsits Flamin' Hot/ Wotsits Twisted
Posted: 12:58 Mon 19-04-2004. Price: 24p/ 21g bag. Location: Convenience store, Willesden.
"Stuart Campbell" reports: I've never cared for Wotsits before, but love Flamin' Hot Monster Munch, so these had a 50/50 chance of being a hit. As it turned out, the ball landed on red - these are ace, tasting exactly like aforementioned Monster Munch, but with a softer, meltier texture and a smaller pack size and price for those with small appetites/ wallets. Also, you get jokes on the back.

...Quite a complicated history to this one, with "Stuart" at last confirming earlier observations by "Rob Rymond", who agreed: A lot spicier and hotter than the Monster Munch equivalent, they certainly taste good. A great addition to the Wotsits range! and the ever-vigilant HotPhil (7/10 - Nice snack... and my keyboard does indeed now have lots of keys covered in a strange red residue). But then I wasn't sure whether to allow this suspiciously high-quality pic of Wotsits Twisted BBQ, described by "EvenScore" as: Also available as Really Cheesy flavour. Also from Walkers, Monster Munch - Turns Your Tongue Blue - not a product recall, limited edition out this summer!

Comment: i was too lazy to send in my wotsits 'mild cheese' packet scan. they are really lame and taste a _lot_ like those packaging corn puffs. my friend said they tasted like vanilla to her. *blee* all round then!

Comment: Actually, "Rob" is right. The first packet of these I had were quite mild, but subsequent packets have been much more aggressively-flavoured. Still good, though.

Comment: sorry for being so behind the times, but have all "normal" Wotsits been downgraded to "mild cheese" as well?

either way, I hope these Flamin' Hot ones are more palatable than the US Cheetos counterparts that I had last summer (though, to be honest, their "bloodstained Twiglets" appearance didn't really help):

Comment: why did cheetos stop being sold everywhere instead of wotsitas stopping? the ads for cheetos were much better and the flavouring was much more supreme.

Comment: hello. As a college graduate, to enjoy a delicious packet of flaming hot wotsits really makes my studying more bearable. The great flavour and fantastic packaging is a sheer delight. But what the f#ck is it with the sh!t jokes?!?!?! Example, 'why was the clock sick? it was run down' Is my intelligence masking my sense of obvious humour? is my intellect clouding my judgement? Or is this really a sh!t joke? please, someone elaborate on this for me. It has been a hot topic in my study sessions, leading us into the early hours of the morning. Please someone, answer me plea for help. Or let us group, and start a crusade against wotsits SH!T JOKES!!!!!!

Comment: Two Points:

I remember in the early 80's you could get two types of Cheetos. There was the wotsits type ones but there were also knobly ones somewhat similar to Nik Naks (I don't think Nik Naks existed back then did they?) and they were very nice... lovely cheese flavour. I was very disappointed when they disappeared.

Second point is that I was very disappointed when Weenie Wotsits disappeared!

Graveyard of snacks:

Comment: Wotsit's became Walkers just before Golden Wonder went bankrupt. Yes - bad news - no more Golden Wonder, however most of GW's products were sold on to other companies - Wotsits to Walkers, Pot Noodle to The Pot Noodle Company (what would the world be like without Pot Noodle!?!?!) and I think Nik Naks have been took on by someone else.

Comment: I absolutely loved MILD CHEESE WOTSITS. They made my day everyday. Why did they stop making them? Were they just too good for people to handle. I think so. I think also it was down to poor marketing, and bad placement on supermarket shelves, they would always be at the bottom of the shelf, and with only one multipacket on display compared to milliioonns of standard wotsits at eye level.

I LOVE THE WAY PEOPLE TALK ABOUT SNACKS. I love talking about snacks as I am a fat ....... failed pop star. I remember the days of wotsit waffles.

Comment: want some mild cheese wotsit action. WHY would they stop selling them?? there's just nothing quite like them anymore. unless of course you lick the wotsit of all it's really cheesy flavour. maybe if you soak them for a while in water. but i fear they would probably just go soggy/disintegrate.

any news on mild cheese wotsits then?
