Click pic to view comments - Semi-international sighting: Nestle Cocco Duo/ Snickers Almond Bar Semi-international sighting: Nestle Cocco Duo/ Snickers Almond Bar
Posted: 10:04 Mon 26-04-2004. Price: 30p or so. Location: Newsagents in Nottingham city centre. Nutritional unusualness: includes crystal vanillin (Cocco Duo).
"Alleycat" reports: As my eyes wandered the confectionery selection, they were drawn to these. Before my brain had time to analyse the information it had just recieved, I almost mistook these for repackaged Milky Way Crispy Rolls. But no! It's new! It's foreign! It's Cocco Duo! And it's really nice. I think we don't have enough coconut flavoured chocolates in this country, these would make a nice addition. Just like a Bounty, but 2 sticks. 35g in weight. "Coconut fingers covered with milk chocolate, decorated with white chocolate". The pack reads "Kókuszos rudacskák tejcsokoládéval mártva, fehércsokoládéval diszitve". Anyone care to translate?

...A challenge to all of Snackspot's Hungarian readers there, though "klapka" had no such problem with the 99p Snickers Almond Bar discovered in the Potteries Shopping Centre, Hanley (complete with helpful info that the product "contains no vitamin C"), relating: A whole display of bars "imported from the USA" with prices to match. I could only buy the Almond Snickers as it was late in the lunchhour. Didn't taste much of almond (they should have been toasted which would have been great), so very much like a small Mars bar with crunch than a peanut Snickers. There was also a "Milky Way" which from its description sounded like a Mars bar, a Snickers Marathon, which was certainly peanut based, but the size, shape and (I wiggled it about) consistency of a muesli bar, the Mars Delight recently spotted elsewhere. Several OREO cookie bars or snacks and some others which I will investigate. Regret no imaging capacity, but I have preserved the wrapper as a monument to this bar's epic journey.

Comment: If you do go back to Sweets from Heaven in Hanley (which is where I'm guessing you got the Snicker's almond bar since I've seen them there before) - make sure to try some of the better American stuff like a York Peppermint patty, a Babyruth, a Butterfinger, or a Milkyway Midnight. I had a Snickers almond bar before when I was back home in the US and I didn't really enjoy it, myself.

Comment: I don't think they do, but I'm not sure for certain. I know there's also a Sweets From Heaven shop in Chester's mall. Many online confectionary providers do sell US brand items (probably at high rates, though) - if you're looking to order sweets online.
