Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Galaxy Ice Cream Blissfully Vanilla Confirmed sighting: Galaxy Ice Cream Blissfully Vanilla
Posted: 20:42 Wed 05-05-2004. Location: Sainsbury's, Southampton. Nutritional unusualness: Not just vanilla - it's *blissfully* vanilla.
"choccieman" reports: OK, this will be my last UK sighting for about 3 weeks as I'm literally about to head out the door and off on my hols to America. Assuming my phone works OK maybe I can send some US sightings :-) Saw this product mentioned by Snackspot the other day, as far as I can tell they just re-badged the old Galaxy ice cream bars. OK there's a *hint* of vanilla but you can barely taste it, hardly blissful (unless I've misunderstood what they mean?). What is good is the chocolate in these Galaxy ice cream bars, imho the best chocolate on any ice cream bar product. Anyone got any idea why it tastes so good? Is it because of the ice cream or would it work in a "normal" chocolate product?

...Well, I thought that the new Galaxy ice-creams were Triple Chocolate Temptation and Blissfully Creamy Vanilla *tubs*, and the new bars were "Dreamy Caramel", but I really don't want to get into an argument with someone as knowledgeable as "choccieman"! Still, in other dessert-related developments: I found one of those Power Rangers Ninja Storm lollies in a newsagent near the BT tower for 99p - interesting chocolate/ crispy rice coating; Sainsbury's are now stocking the orange version of Richmond Food's Fab lolly (soon to be the official ice cream of the forthcoming Thunderbirds film); while "Lee Maguire" notes that Harpenden Sainsbury's is now selling Shrek 2 tie-in cereal Nestle Mud and Worms, remarking: You can't see in the picture but the box is very shiny.

Comment: But where oh where are the ice cream sandwiches? With that soft chocolate biscuity thing and the yummy ice cream?

Comment: Orange Fabs are great. The sugar strands on the top bit are really fizzy.

Comment: Waitrose, Woodley Reading has the dreamy caramel in stock. The caramel flavour was a bit insipid for me, but the two 14 year olds (my partner's daughter and her best friend) who tried them thought they great - so much so we had to pause Mario Party to enjoy them in silence.

Comment: I must work on my introductions to sightings...

I had the remaining bar last night (reward for my 1 hour bike ride). This time I left the bar out for 10 minutes to warm up. Much better. The caramel flavour was more noticeable, and chocolate melted nicely (although I'm still not 100% convinced about ice cream and large chunks of chocolate). I also noted that the wrapper says the bar is covered in 'darker' chocolate - whatever that is? 7869 7 69
