Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Walls Cornetto Love Potion Numbers 3 and 4 Confirmed sighting: Walls Cornetto Love Potion Numbers 3 and 4
Posted: 16:46 Sun 09-05-2004. Price: 1.10 each. Location: Spar, Leeds. Sub-flavours: Who could forget numbers "1" and "2"?.
"Kim" reports: Continuing my quest to sample all the Cornetto Love Potions in number order, I picked up these two in my local corner shop. No.3, "Chocolate with a rum flavour twist", consisted of chocolate ice cream with ripples of chocolate sauce (presumably supposed to be rum-flavoured) and bits of dark and orange chocolate on top. Disappointingly, I couldn't really taste the alleged "rum" element but it was pretty good all the same. The cone contained vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, an improvement on No.2. No.4, "Choc nut with a pistachio kiss", offered the rather disconcerting sight of very green ice cream, topped with little scrolls of dark and white chocolate. The ice cream had a strange, although not unpleasant, nutty taste. The cone was filled with nut-flavoured chocolate ice cream and lumps of dark chocolate - very nice indeed. A combination of the top of No.3 with the bottom of No.4 might be the perfect Love Potion.

...Hmm, I wasn't a huge fan of the Pistachio "Envy" Magnum Deadly Sin so my current favourite still has to be Number 2 - I've arbitrarily decided to add "Kim's" comments on that one ("The top layer of ice cream has a rather nice hazelnutty taste to it, and the bottom layer is just plain vanilla with more heart-shaped choc chips in it") to the Number 1 sighting - otherwise, let's face it, this could just drag on for weeks.

Comment: I hate these sort of sweets with their semi-aphrodisiac claims and cliched view of what makes an erotic snack (why not an oyster and tomato flavoured lolly?).

I saw some "lover's tea" in a shop yesterday, which as far as I could tell was just tea. I thought that was funny.
