Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Dream With Real Strawberries Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Dream With Real Strawberries
Posted: 17:20 Sat 12-06-2004. Price: 42p. Location: Somerfield, Selby; local newsagent, near Leeds. Nutritional unusualness: Contains freeze-dried strawberry pieces.
"Phil C" reports: This was in a special "new product" bin in my local Somerfield, and on the bin it said something like "Summer Special". This looks like a very sneaky attack on the whole "idea" of the new Lemon KitKat, ie being supposed to boost summer sales. There were many small bits of strawberry in the white chocolate chunks. It tasted OK, but very very sweet (as if normal Dream bars aren't sweet enough). I wasn't overly impressed, because the freeze-dried strawberries bring back horrible memoirs of the berries you get in Special K with Berries. It's not too bad though, and brings a welcome change to Cadbury Dream. If you ever considered buying a Nestle Double Berry, go for this instead.

..."Phil C" here improves on his previous photography by going to all the trouble of scanning the wrapper in his local library, just getting his sighting in before "Kim", who largely agrees: At first it seems very similar to Nestle's Double Berry bar - white chocolate containing freeze dried fruit. But the fact that the chocolate is "strawberry flavoured" makes quite a big difference; the bar tastes not unlike a strawberry milkshake. The overall effect is, I'm sorry to say, rather sweet and sickly - the taste of the strawberry pieces gets lost in it all. Maybe they introduced the strawberry flavour to make this differ from Double Berry, but in doing so they've created an inferior chocolate bar. I'm also surprised they didn't actually call it "Strawberries and Dream" - "Dream With Real Strawberries" is hardly a massively catchy name, is it?

Fruit Pastilles have a Pineapple flavour as well.

Comment: Is it me, or do these taste just like Nesquik?

Also, why on earth are these made with 'milk preparation' rather than good old-fashioned milk?
