Click pic to view comments - International sighting: Cadbury Triple Decker (now with Caramel flavour) International sighting: Cadbury Triple Decker (now with Caramel flavour)
Posted: 11:54 Fri 18-06-2004. Price: $4.07. Location: Melbourne, Australia. Sub-flavours: Triple Decker (with strawberry). Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
"JazzJazz" reports: Well, another new one for Australia. A while ago, Cadbury released their Triple Decker block containing layers of Dairy Milk, Dream and strawberry "confection". Now, they've gone and added to their "Triple Decker" label by substituting the strawberry flavour for caramel. What's it like? Nice, but I'm not a huge fan. I found the caramel flavour to be far too overpowering (not subtle, like with the strawberry variety). It tastes like you're eating a Jersey caramel or something... the chocolate barely comes through. However, as I said, it's tasty enough.

..."JazzJazz's" monitoring of Australian Dairy Milk variants continues here, with the added assistance of "Phil C's" report on the Cadbury Black Forest bar: This was sent from [South] Australia and I got my hands on it via a friend. It is Dairy Milk with cherry flavoured jellies and biscuit pieces in it. The jellies are a bit odd and hard to chew on, which somewhat spoils this chocolate. Other than that it is a nice change from the norm. Amongst other things, I was also sent white chocolate M and M's, white Twix's, Cherry Ripe bites and the amusing "Krapu" sweets... will report on these soon.

Comment: The triple decker chocolate was very sickly, i thought. Too many flavours, like eating chocolate vomit. I was attracted to it by the Mario competition on the packaging, but was disappointed as I didnt win the comp, and i didnt enjoy the chocolate.

I give it 1 star

Comment: Didn't you used to get Black Forest bars years ago? They were bloody lovely. For some reason I remember the newsagent of my childhood having millions of different types of Dairy Milk bars. Anyone know a good archivey type site for that?

Comment: I may have been a bit hasty with my ealier comments. There was a portion of this chocolate in the cupboard at home and I gave it a second chance... the caramel seemed a touch more mellow this time and allowed the flavour of the chocolates to come though. Still, it's not as good as the strawberry variety (which seems to have been discontinued).

Comment: While I was in Hong Kong I bought a box of Cadburys Black Forest (same size as a Maltesers box). They were like Strollers - little balls of cookie and cherry jelly covered with chocolate.

Quite nice although the chewy jelly was a bit strange. 87079 5

Comment: Where the hell can I obtain a triple decker Cadbury's chocolate bar with strawberry in it? It was absolutely delicious! I've been trying to buy it ever since but nobody seems to stock it? Where oh where can I buy some to eat and to send overseas?
