Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle Cappuccino "3 Chocolates and Coffee" bar Confirmed sighting: Nestle Cappuccino "3 Chocolates and Coffee" bar
Posted: 13:21 Fri 25-Jun-2004. Price: Any 2 for 1.80. Location: Asda, Lower Early Reading. Sub-flavours: none. Nutritional unusualness: ...with a touch of real coffee.
"Diarmuid Mallon" reports: A very tasty chocolate bar composed of milk, white and dark chocolate to which little bits of coffee have been added. Doesn't really taste like cappuccino, but you do get a heady mix of the flavours. Worth seeking out. The other bar I got for my 1.80 was the kiddy focused Nesquik bar (milk and white chocolate). This was a real disappointment, as the two flavours seemed to overpower each other, leaving you with a bar that just tasted "wrong". Worth avoiding.

...A suitably mixed reaction from "Diarmuid" here to what seems to be an (imported?) hybrid between KitKat Cappuccino Kubes and the recklessly Australian Cadbury Triple Decker bar. In other Nestle innovation: Independent Retail News reports that they'll be launching their upmarket KitKat Editions range with "Rich Golden Caramel" and "Seville Orange" variants in September of this year (recommended retail price 42p), while "Sandy" provided our first unconfirmed sighting of Low Carb Rolos in Superdrug, Bath, apologising: Spotted this today on the checkouts at Superdrug but there was no price and I didn't buy them so don't know how they taste, sorry! But thought you would appreciate the sighting! ...a lucky escape, perhaps, considering that advance coverage suggests they'll cost as much as 1.49 per tube of Rolos, and a whopping 79p for a *two-finger* low-carb KitKat.

Comment: Perhaps the low carb kitkats and rolos get away with being "low carb" because you could only afford to buy one a week?

Comment: Ooh, this is interesting, because I bought a couple of those Nesquik bars late last year in Farmfoods, which might help to solve the dilemma of whether the chain is an early test-bed for exciting new products, or a dumping-ground for failed ones.

Comment: It seems to be a bit of both - and it's not just Famfoods - there are other cheap shops doing the same, like Jack Fultons and Home Bargains.

Comment: I'm finding something really annoying at the moment. Both crisps and chocolate companies are doing it, and here's KitKat planning it- "rich golden caramel"- that's just a cheapy nasty tasting chocolate bar with a layer or toffee in it, using fancy words doesn't make it any more gourmet. And SEVILLE orange? Yeah right. Grr.

Comment: Tried the "Seville Orange" bar this am... it is bitter and nasty and the whole Kit Kat + semi-viscous filling thing just does NOT work...
