Semi-international sighting: Nestle Nesquik Strawberry-Yoghurt "Cocoa Powder"
Posted: 22:25 Wed 30-Jun-2004. Price: 59p for 300g. Location: Farmfoods, Selby. Nutritional unusualness: No others noted.
"Phillerena" reports: Since there has been a bit of a Nesquik theme recently, I felt I had to sumbit this. It is a foreign oddity currently exclusive to Farmfoods stores. The full name is "Strawberry-yoghurt flavoured instant sweetened cocoa powder". It is a combination of chocolate and strawberry flavour Nesquik. The powder is rich and similar to hot chocolate powder. The taste is, well, very odd. It's a rich, dark, chocolatey sort of taste clashing with a light, sweet strawberry sort of taste. The two flavours completely cancel each other out and make this taste just plain nasty. It is definitely a product from the import-market, as the front has all foreign writing on it. Overall, it is very odd and to be honest, tastes foul. I can't see it selling well - which is perhaps why it's only found in Farmfoods stores.
...The Farmfoods fun continues with this update to the recent "Very Vanilla Nesquik" controversy (what I meant to ask at the time was: surely "Vanilla" pretty much tastes like normal milk flavour, so wouldn't adding Vanilla Nesquik just make milk taste, well, a bit milkier?) On the subject of which: "Phillerena" has also sent in recent sightings of Friji White Chocolate and the Nestle White Crunch chocolate bar - do other readers think these are actually new, or has he gone just a little bit vanilla-flavouring crazy?

Comment: Crunch isn't new, but the Friji one is, I believe. Well, it said 'new' on it anyway...

Comment: Although the word vanilla is often used as a synonym for "plain" or "unflavoured", when something actually says "vanilla flavour" I expect it to taste of vanilla, not nothing.
Milk does not taste of vanilla, unless you cruelly forcefeed vanilla pods to cows.
My guess is that if it worked *at all* you'd need several pounds of vanilla pods, and would cost you a small fortune.
