Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Swiss Delice Creation range Confirmed sighting: Swiss Delice Creation range
Posted: 21:02 Tue 06-Jul-2004. Location: Tesco Southampton. Sub-flavours: Brownies, Tiramisu. Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
"choccieman" reports: So Swiss company Delice start their entry into the UK choc market with these two lovely products. Very reminiscent of Lindt Petit Desserts. The "Tiramisu" is pretty good and is much the same as the Lindt Creme Brulee in terms of similarity to the dessert it's imitating. The "Brownies" is a whole different story, it is fantastic! It is literally a very thin chocolate brownie coated in Swiss chocolate, very highly recommended even if it is a bit pricey. If this is a sign of things to come let's have some more from Delice.

..."choccieman" returns with this connoisseur's report on the latest from Delice, a company whose website describes them as "the young international premium brand for Swiss fine food specialities" - I've recently enjoyed their Brasilia "meringue biscuits with chocolate and hazelnut filling" (1.59 in Waitrose for 100g box), and will also be looking out for their Choquette Pralines and Tartelette de Linz. In other chocolate/ biscuit-related bulletins: The Grocer reckons that Jacob's could revitalise its Club Biscuit brand with the more youth-oriented "success in France" of Secret Club Boogie Bars (in Chocolate or Caramel, multipacks of 6), while Weetabix are launching their Chunkyfruit Bar in the fruity flavours of Strawberry, Apple, Blackcurrant, and Cherry (45g bar retailing around 35p).

Comment: The Chunkyfruit bars sound disgusting. First, terrible offputting name. Second, can anyone in the world possibly want to eat dry Weetabix? Have they done any market research at all? I give them the lifespan of vanilla monster munch, if that.

Comment: yeah, they seem to be making a big thing out of this being the first "official" Weetabix cereal bar, but presumably that means that "Weetos" don't count? http://www.snackspot.org.uk/thread.php?story=0308211207sbc

also, I wonder if Delice got the idea of coating Brownie cakes in chocolate from the "Kaptain's" very own Mars Christmas bar? http://www.snackspot.org.uk/thread.php?story=0312100935sbc

Comment: At the moment these have 'try me free' stickers on in Tesco, where you can get a refund of the price, or something. I think it's a lot of bother though. 58304 3
