Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Morrisons Crispy Thins Confirmed sighting: Morrisons Crispy Thins
Posted: 17:48 Sat 17-Jul-2004. Price: 58p/ six pack of 21g bags. Location: Morrisons, Cribbs Causeway. Nutritional unusualness: Less than half the fat of normal crisps.
"Stuart Campbell" reports: Stopping off on the way home from the seaside to buy some Cherry Virgin Sours and Morrison's excellent own-brand "steak and ale" crisps, these new potato-based snacks seemed worth a mention in the wake of all the recent "low-carb" business. Billed as "dehydrated potato chips" with only 4g of fat per bag, but priced at the "economy" level rather than the premium markups usually put on "healthy" alternatives, they resemble a lighter, smooter version of Discos, with two each of the traditional salt'n'vinegar, cheese'n'onion and ready salted in the pack. Most low-fat crisps are revolting, but these are really nice, with an interesting texture midway between normal crisps and rice crackers, and the flavours stand up well (possibly due to the slightly higher-than-normal salt content). I commend these even to the non-obese.

...A bonus own-brand Saturday sighting from "Stuart" here, commemorating the fact that today's The Grocer magazine is *full* of new crispy snacks, including Walkers Tandoori Sizzler Doritos Extreme and the official release of Wotsits Twisted, plus - from rivals Golden Wonder - Golden Skins and the return of Ringos, apparently following a grassroots public campaign via a website currently registered to Golden Wonder Ltd.

Comment: Are these similar to Golden Wonder Lites? I love those, and a cheap alternative wouldn't go amiss. :)

Comment: These crispy snacks are WONDERFUL!!!!! They melt in your mouth and taste like extra light discos! Only problem I have is finding them!! They disappear off the shelf in my local Morrisons so quickly that I have to buy several six packs at a time whenever I see them!!!! They're also great if you are on a diet as they've only about 90 calories in each bag!!!!

Comment: Help!!! My local Morrisons have run out!!!!!! On enquiring when they are getting any more stock I was told THEY'VE BEEN DISCONTINUED!!!!! How come this ALWAYS happens when a product seems to become TOO popular!!!!!!!

Comment: Perhaps it happened because Walkers "bought out" the competition? 22047 7 13
