Click pic to view comments - International sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Strawberry/ Triple Chocolate/ Ball International sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Strawberry/ Triple Chocolate/ Ball
Posted: 21:20 Thu 22-Jul-2004. Price: $1.19 (Canadian). Location: Toronto. Sub-flavours: Vanilla too. Nutritional unusualness: None noted.
"Nick" reports: This is exactly how you would imagine to be - there is the very chemically-tasting, bog standard "Strawberry Flavour" in a regular milk chocolate 4 fingered Kit Kat. I was hoping that it would be a white chocolate variant with frozen strawberries that seems so prevalent in the UK at the moment, but sadly no. On the basis of this trial I doubt I will bother with the "vanilla" one.

..."Nick" kicks off today's round-up of "Kit Kats from around the world", followed by "ruffy" who paid $0.59 for a strawberry-free Triple Chocolate one in Southern California, remarking: Another in the seemingly endless variations on a theme. The wafer part of a KitKat has always seemed to be more about texture than taste, so adding a chocolate wafer doesn't seem that interesting. The initial taste is pretty much the same as a regular KitKat. Then there's a slight powdery cocoa aftertaste that's not unpleasant, but way too subtle to make this better (or worse) than normal. And leave it to the French to charge "Michael" "approx 2 for a 'chain' of 5 packets" of KitKat Ball (sic), in Paris, though he maintains: These aren't just Maltesers in different packaging for the French. They taste pretty different, possibly like a small spherical Breakaway bar. Very nice actually!

Comment: Thank you Nick - I'll be shunning the nasty sounding Kit Kat Strawberry if it makes it over here...

Comment: The kitkat balls are not pleasant at all, I had some in Disneyland Paris and they tasted like Horlicks! Bof!

Comment: They are doing a Kit Kat balls survey on the test and vote site, you can get a pack of them if they choose you at random and get to test them. Not sure if that means they are going to be coming out in the UK though, although with the recent Kit Kat madness who would be surprised?
