Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Walls Cornetto Love Potion Numbers 5 and 6 Confirmed sighting: Walls Cornetto Love Potion Numbers 5 and 6
Posted: 12:38 Fri 30-Jul-2004. Price: 80p. Location: Convenience store near Finchely Road Tube, London. Nutritional unusualness: Glucose fructose syrup, hydrogenated vegetable fat, no "nutritional info".
"choccieman" was fairly positive about the Cappucino with an Irish Cream Flavour Lick number 5, adding: "I've had to confess before I am a coffee and choc fan so this is one of my faves of the 'love potions'. As a matter of interest given their title has anyone found any of this range an aphrodisiac at all?". Well, Snackspot didn't notice any significant results with the Forest Fruits Nibbling Vanilla Flavour number 6, despite being mildly aroused by the Black Forest Gateau-ish sauce on the top (even though blackberry, strawberry and raspberry are the only "forest fruits" I could spot in the ingredients), the unusually strong vanilla flavour ice-cream, plus the surprise (blackberry?) sorbet at the bottom. Compared to all those Magnum Deadly Sins, the Love Potions have ended as more of a whimper than a bang, I'd say.

...In other frozen-food tomfoolery, "Phillerena" maintains: I have found a mini-article in a copy of That's Life! magazine (don't ask), saying that Asda have introduced Custard Cream Ice Cream Biscuits to their product range. It says: "These brilliant ice creams are based on everyone's favourite biscuits and make the perfect instant pud. Choccy bourbon ice creams also available". They cost 1.48 for six. Unfortunately, "There isn't an Asda store close to me", he concludes, "but be sure to look out for these if there's one near you".

Comment: Our local Asda has had them for a couple of months now along with the bourbon variety.

The biscuit on both is very nice although the vanilla ice cream may be a bit sweet for some.

They're very more-ish and had great difficulty in making them last more than a couple days.

Comment: The bourbon ones are the closest thing to american "Ice Cream Sandwiches" that I have seen in the UK. Except the ice cream is chocolate. Anybody seen anything better?

Comment: Pretty sure maxibons still around, one of my fave ice creams. Although despite being a 'friend of the girth' and a B+J buddy I still haven't found a B+J 'wich to try. :-(
