Click pic to view comments - Semi-international sighting: Olympus Sport Active Gum/ Cinnamon Altoids Strips Semi-international sighting: Olympus Sport Active Gum/ Cinnamon Altoids Strips
Posted: 16:29 Wed 15-Sep-2004. Price: 80p/ $2.00. Location: Olympus Active Gum - M4 Service Station (between J4 and J2); Altoids - Rockerfeller Plaza, New York. Nutritional unusualness: Helps energy metabolism - with added Vitamins and Xylitol (Olympus); "This tin may present a choking hazard" (Altoids).
"Diarmuid Mallon" reports: Bought these last year on the way to see the Dixie Chicks at the Albert Hall, and only found them when I cleared the car out at the weekend. JJB Sports extend their sports related franchise into sport-gum. So before your workout at the gym, chew on these and the vitamins (B1, B2 B5, B6 and H) will help you "meet the demands of an active lifestyle". H (Botin) apparently works with amino acids to convert glucose into energy. The packet also boasts that "product has been scientifically tested to be non-cariogenic" - which, personally, was a huge relief.

...Yes, "Diarmuid" is back (after a brief absence) with these two semi-recent sightings from the archives - just out of interest, "non-cariogenic" means "not promoting dental caries", and is not to be confused with the phrase "non-carcinogenic" (not causing cancer) that it superficially resembles. Anyway, he then sent in a completely unusable photograph of the Cinnamon Altoids Strips he found in New York and, apparently unaware of the actually quite good online adventure that promotes them, went on to complain: Discovered these whilst on an Altoids quest with my partner, who is obsessed with the Altoids Sours. These "breath strips" (and note the total absence of the word "fresh") were on sale next to the more common Listerine ones. The strips are very hot, and tend to stick together - not the best combination. More than 2 at the same time starts to feel similar to the drunken game of "who can eat the hottest curry".

Comment: OMG you will never guess what, the Nestle Baci launch has been delayed! I'm so sad! It's odd though that they sell Nestle Baci in my local CO-OP.

Comment: Hello. I've just been given a box of Nestles Baci. It is delicious. When was it introduced in the UK? How long have I missed out on it for?

Comment: I do believe that the Baci was introduced last Christmas. But those Italians have been enjoying them for years.
