International sighting: Cadbury Dairy Milk Malt Crisp
Posted: 14:27 Thu 30-Sep-2004. Price: $2.87 ($1.20 smaller bar). Location: Melbourne, Australia; Franklins, Sydney, Australia. Nutritional unusualness: Malt (from Barley).
"JazzJazz" reports: Cadbury floods Australian shelves once more with its latest spin on the Dairy Milk block. This latest offering has crispy malt pieces scattered throughout the chocolate. The malt pieces vary greatly in size and are denser than the malt centre of Maltesers. All round, this is a nice addition to the Cadbury family and is pretty damn tasty. Keep it up, my purple hero!
...And welcome back to our regular down-under Dairy Milk correspondent "JazzJazz", with this antipodean advance warning of where all this messing around with mint and orange chips may lead. But now he's got competition in the form of "Mark" who, within days, provided his own analysis of the very same product, commenting: Another bar from Cadbury, this time the usual milk chocolate is polluted with randomly shaped nuggets and shards of "malt" - whatever that is. Seeing it derives from barley, I'd call it a healthfood. The malty bits are not as crisp as I'd imagined, and had more the texture of small pieces of biscuit. There was, however, a definite taste of malt, not so much in a Maltesers kind of way but it instantly reminded me of the Nestle Malted Milk drink powder we have had at the back of the cupboard for years because nobody in the household likes it much. All in all, not bad to try once, but I don't think I'll be buying it again.

Comment: Australia is truly god's chosen land, full of manna in many strange and varied erm... varieties.
I was there but late, and you guys don't know how lucky you are. You have all kinds of Cadbury-ey goodness that the rest of Christendom is strangely, and unfairly, spared. Plus the world's finest chocolate malty milk drinks.
