Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Christmas Pudding Flavour (and international Melon) Confirmed sighting: Nestle Kit Kat Christmas Pudding Flavour (and international Melon)
Posted: 11:57 Tue 12-Oct-2004. Price: 0.98. Location: Adsa, Derby. Sub-flavours: White, Lemon and Yoghurt, Luscious Lime, Orange, Mint etc. Nutritional unusualness: All the festive flavour without all the calories! (107 calories; 5.6g fat per 2 fingers).
"ANS" reports: The rumours are true - it's here - the Christmas Pudding Flavoured KitKat. Those suits at KitKat HQ have gone completely crazy, taking a Walkers-type marketing stance and throwing any old flavour at a classic confectionery product. But fear ye not - this is actually a success! This seasonal special has all you could expect: subtle spices with a hint of brandy. Could there be any more KitKat Kraziness on the horizons?

...And, just when I was hoping that "ANS" had managed to draw a line under Nestle's current bout of uncontrollable experimentation (presumably it's 98p for a pack of 6 or something, unless there really is a Low-Carb Christmas Pudding variety), who should appear but another first-time spotter, "Mike Pugliese", who claims to have paid 45p for this apparently imported Kit Kat Melon (with "melon cream yogurt filling") at an unidentified store in Cambridge City Centre, commenting: This Kit Kat was excellent. The best fruit flavored chocolate ever made! It was sweet but not too chocolately, and still tasted like a Kit Kat. It tastes very tropical and delicious - must try!

Comment: The Melon KK looks like it comes from Japan, judging by the packaging. They also do Blueberry KitKats in Japan I have heard.

As for Xmas Pud KK...at last! Now I don't need to bother with buying an xmas pud this year! I'll just give everyone a KitKat.

Comment: does anyone know what "vikichan" means (on the Melon Kit Kat packet)? if you google for it you get a lot of Japanese snack sites... http://www.google.com/search?q=vikichan

Comment: Definitely from Japan - it even says it is. Style is the same as the two lemon cheesecake kit-kats I just got from one of the Japanese girls I was teaching over the summer. Rather than coming as a four-bar in a packet, they come as two two-bars in packets in a box. Very cute. Pretty awful snack, mind you.

Vikichan probably means Viki, who's a girl. Since chan is the Japanese cute-things suffix.

Comment: Speaking of Kit Kat I was in York today and must have been very close to Nestle's York factory as the air was strong with the smell of Kit Kat chocolate. Strangely it then turned into a minty sort of smell (perhaps mint Kit Kat?) and then back to the chocolate smell. There was no hint of brandy or spice though...and unfortunately myself and my friend couldn't pin-point the exact location of the factory.

Comment: Had some from Asda today. On the back it says that it is the chocolate that is xmas pudding flavoured. They are ok but I dont think the flavour works at all. Infact I dont think that simply changing the flavours of Kit Kats is very clever.

Comment: I quite like these, and they really do taste Chrismassy. However, I took a load into the office where I work, and almost everybody else refused to take more than one bite. Even the smell put most people off and I ended up finishing off 6 half eaten bars myself. If you can't find them in your usual supermarket, they seem to be a common sight in Asda's across the country.

Comment: Mountain of these in Iceland right now at 49p per 8 pack. I've gone off them though - they do leave quite an aftertaste, and it doesn't feel right eating Christmas food in February. Mind you, those Blackberry Matchmakers that came out for Christmas are now down to 99p a pack in Morrisons and they're quite nice.
