Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Ribena Apple and Pear "Fruits Of The Swamp" Limited Edition Confirmed sighting: Ribena Apple and Pear "Fruits Of The Swamp" Limited Edition
Posted: 11:42 Tue 09-Nov-2004. Price: 99p. Location: Home Bargains, Pontefract. Sub-flavours: Normal Ribena.
"Phillerena" reports: Another product with the Shrek 2 "Win a Donkey" promotion on it, this Limited Edition Ribena tastes very much like still Fanta Apple Splash. It tastes faintly of apples, but the taste of the pear is a lot more distinct (and rather chemically). It has a sludgy green colour and an almost stale flavour, although when you use ice and really cold water it tastes a lot better and actually rather refreshing. I tried the "Hot Ribena" method, although that just made it taste like it had indeed come from a swamp - so this is not recommended. It's worth buying if you see it, as it makes a nice change from normal Ribena, if prepared correctly.

..."Phillerena's" beverage bonanza continues with the most scarily coloured product I've seen since the Smuckers Simply Nutritious Mega Green ("with spirulina, chlorella, green grasses and other green foods") I bought on a whim in Sainsbury's and have been too scared to drink ever since. And I'm not sure quite how new this Ribena variant is, though the "Get your own blow up Donkey" offer ties in with the current DVD release of Shrek 2 - plus it's the perfect opportunity to mention the US annoucement of this year's Jones Soda Holiday Pack, featuring fizzy drinks with the great taste of Turkey and Gravy, Cranberry, Mashed Potato and Butter, Fruitcake, and Green Bean Casserole.

Comment: Well being in Home Bargains it would be, I have concluded that they sell products that are not being bought by normal supermarkets because they are unpopular or whatever, and sell them off cheapie. Their latest stock was several packs of Dream with Strawberries, also they have nearly run out of their stock of Berry Skittles.

Comment: This was one nasty variant on Ribena. I bought a bottle of this green gunge and ended up with stomach turmoil. But the inflatable donkey I got from the tokens was cool 35349 1
