Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle Milk Chocolate/ Fruit and Nut Confirmed sighting: Nestle Milk Chocolate/ Fruit and Nut
Posted: 13:30 Wed 17-Nov-2004. Price: 22p/ 85p. Location: Jack Fulton, Sherburn In Elmet/ Tesco, Pontefract. Nutritional unusualness: (Milk Chocolate) Contains polyglycerol polyricinoleate.
Once again, "Phillerena" appears to be shopping in a slightly different universe to the rest of us, describing the basic Nestle Milk Chocolate as: A bit dull looking, but I originally thought that this was an early sighting of the Nestle Blue Label (you can understand why). However, having seen pictures of the Blue Label wrappers, I found that this is not the same. Still it is milk chocolate, and I have not seen a plain old milk chocolate bar from Nestle before (not counting Double Cream or Yorkie). It comes in 3 pieces and has a dark colour to it. It tastes like what you would expect from Nestle - chocolate at its blandest. OK, it isn't as bad as some Nestle chocolates I have tried - it has sort of a nutty taste to it and doesn't taste like cooking chocolate - but you can definitely tell why it has wound up in a cheap shop rather than a supermarket. My friend said that it tastes slightly of Nutella, and I have to agree, although of course not with the "high quality" taste Nutella has.

...Fortunately "Phillerena" went on to discover what seems to be a Fruit and Nut version, as follows: "Delicious smooth milk chocolate brimming with raisins and roasted peanuts". The "delicious smooth chocolate" is clearly a little joke on Nestle's part, but the bit about the raisins and nuts is true. The chocolate tastes as you would expect - tateless and boring. However this is made up for by the fact that Nestle have really packed a lot of raisins and nuts into this bar. I'm not a huge fan of Fruit and Nut chocolate, mainly because Cadbury use hazelnuts which I don't like very much. But the use of peanuts in this one makes it a lot more bearable for me and actually isn't too bad.

Comment: The fruit & nut one was actually the new Blue Label one. Why did Nestle even bother to bring this out - vas ist der point?

Comment: i thought cadbury fruit and nut was almonds, cos me and my old man had a conversation about this a few weeks ago and he reckoned they hadnt been hazlenuts since the late 79's. he might have been having me on tho

Comment: Isn't it hazelnuts AND almonds? Perhaps they removed the hazelnuts. I'll have to have a look when shopping next.

Comment: The 200g Milk Chocolate bar is available at the moment in wrappers with a big yellow panel on saying "special value only 79p". The chocolate itself comes in about 18 chunks each with a different design on, but suffers from tasting the same as a Yorkie bar though [a bit like soap]. It's not so nice as any of the Cadbury varieties, and a lot poorer than my favourite - the Galaxy bar.

Comment: I feel the need to say this is possibly the nastiest chocolate I've ever eaten. Even *the next day* I had that sort of horrid plasticky residue coating my teeth and tongue. Disgusting. 588 6
