Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Kellogg's Reduced Sugar Frosties Confirmed sighting: Kellogg's Reduced Sugar Frosties
Posted: 21:43 Mon 13-Dec-2004. Price: 1.39/ 750g. Location: Sainsbury's, Bath. Nutritional unusualness: 1/3 less sugar, no artificial sweeteners.
"Stuart Campbell" reports: In a box flash seemingly aimed directly at your Aspartame-hating correspondent, the packaging of this new addition to the Kellogg's line loudly proclaims "Nothing Added, Just Sugar Taken Away". You can see the change straight away when you open the packet, as the new-style flakes are noticeably darker in colour, presumably due to only having two-thirds as much glittery white sugar coating on them. Taste-wise they're pretty much indistinguishable from "real" Frosties, though - so if you've got some fat kids, this might be as good a place to start as any before the social services come round and take them away from you.

...A significant thumbs-up here for this new twist on Kellogg's most controversial breakfast cereal, probably too swift to be a response to a recent Advertising Standards Authority ruling that the product should not be allowed to use the phrase "Eat right" in cinema commercials - plus, as was reported just this week, a "13.5% slump" in sales (though "1/3 less sugar" - is that still about 3 times more than Cornflakes?). In other pudding peculiarities: sadly I wasn't tempted by the "Winter Edition" of those foully artificially-sweetened Nestle Sveltesse yoghurts (in something like "Rhubarb Crumble Style" and "Apple Caramel Style"), or indeed ice-cream bar versions of Turkish Delight/ Mint Chips Dairy Milk, seeing as Cadbury seem to have chosen to launch the latter in perhaps the coldest week of the winter so far.

Comment: Those new cadbury bar ice-creams have been available at the Reading Costco for a few weeks now. But the combination of the weather, travel and having to buy half-a-hundred weight at a time have put be off buying these to sample them.

Comment: By the way SS I don't think there's a fruit and nut one...just mint chips and Turkish. The Turkish isn't too bad but deffinately nothing amazing. Mars ice cream bars are still the best.

Comment: I've had one of those turkish delight icecream. they were on buy one get one free at sainsburys in middlesbrough, and i think my boyfriend still has some in his freezer.

the turkish delight was good, the icecream not so and the chocolate worse.

Comment: Had one of the Fruit n Nut Icecream bars. Not bad. Raisins in ice-cream are genius! I just don't like choc ice-cream much. 42315 64
