Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Mullerlight Apple Pie flavour/ Lemon Cheesecake flavour Confirmed sighting: Mullerlight Apple Pie flavour/ Lemon Cheesecake flavour
Posted: 19:58 Sun 09-Jan-2005. Price: 39p. Location: Morrisons, Edinburgh. Nutritional unusualness: 10.5g sugar, 0.1g saturated fat per 100g (175g pot).
"lackadaisy" reports: Both of these new Mullerlights have "cake pieces" which are small and soggy (but slightly more impressive than those in Sveltesse Lemon Meringue variety). The flavours of apple and lemon are slightly zestier than the ordinary apple/ lemon Mullerlight yoghurts, although they only contain 5% apple and 3% lemon - plus artificial sweeteners a-plenty.

...And welcome to another first-time spotter here, with this nutritionally detailed account of what is surely Muller's first-ever product to enticingly describe itself as "Yoghurt with cake pieces". In other dessert-related developments: The Grocer magazine notes that Kellogg's have launched the "just add milk" Drink'n Crunch single-handed cereal cup in the US (able to "dispense milk and cereal into the consumer's mouth at the same time"), and confirms "Alex's" anticipation that "Touch" (hazelnut ice-cream with hazelnut inclusions) and "Aroma" (vanilla ice-cream chocolate with coffee bean inclusions) will be the first of Unilever/ Birds Eye/ Wall's Magnum 5 Senses to start appearing in UK freezer cabinets this January, presumably followed by "Sound", "Taste" and "Vision" at some point between now and summertime.

Comment: It sounds nice apart from the fact that it contains aspartame as usual.

Comment: Just seen some of the Magnum 5 Senses in the local papershop, but haven't tried them on account of it being completely the wrong season for ice-cream. Surely the British winter isn't the best time & place for this kind of thing...

Comment: I rather enjoyed the apple pie flavour one. Sent my friend out to buy some more but he bought the apple and cinnamon one instead, which is not so nice.

Comment: the taste does actually remind you of cheesecake, the bittersweet lemon with the creaminess works magically. but, i am dubious about the 'cake pieces' 1. since when does cheesecake actually contain cake and 2. its like the horrible sponge bits in trifle. ick. but once you get over the strange texture of these peices, overall it is quite nice. also spotted apple pie and rhubarb crumble flavours but didnt fancy them.

Comment: the rhubarb crumble flavour also has the "cake" pieces. Very weird texture. Quite off-putting.

Comment: Enjoyed these - but has anyone noticed how there are not as many cake pieces any more? I found two in a whole pot the other day, but when they were new there was a generous serving. Hmm.

Comment: The cake pieces were soggy and were nothing like real cake. If they're gone I won't miss 'em

Comment: I dont know why people moan about the "cake pieces". Hello people, these are yoghurts, so of course anything in them is gonna be soggy. If you want real cake or real apple pie or whatever then just go and buy one.

Comment: I hate these new flavours. They should stick to fruit only. And why has the Mango flavour Muller Light disappeared? That was my all-time favourite.
