Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle Ice Cool Mint "Blue Ice" Yorkie Confirmed sighting: Nestle Ice Cool Mint "Blue Ice" Yorkie
Posted: 21:58 Wed 02-Feb-2005. Price: 44p. Location: Woolworths, Edgware Road, London; Woolies, Leeds. Nutritional unusualness: Mint flavoured boiled sugar pieces (7%); "Too cool for girls".
"Commander Zorg" reports: This Blue Ice (also tagged Ice Cool Mint) Yorkie is a Yorkie with mint bits in, mint bits of a similar size, texture and mintiness to Dairy Milk's mint bits. You can, therefore, easily imagine what it tastes like without impulsively wasting 44p when you only wanted to get a January Detox Baked Potato for lunch. The pale white glacial design also sees the side slogan altered to "too cool for girls" which, seeing as girls are always cold, must mean it's an extremely aspirational lifestyle brand indeed. But it seems odd to give a new product an icy design - surely you'd be more likely to pick up a bar that promised some sort of warming sensation on a cold, miserable January day?

..."Commander Zorg" got in just before "Phillerena" with this one, though "Phillerena" had the better pic, and countered: This wasn't as bad as one would expect. It's ages since I last had a Yorkie and the last time I did I was very disappointed. This version actually tasted very nice. The mint flavour is a lot nicer than some mint chocolate bars I've had, and balances well with the overly sweet Yorkie chocolate. Very filling too, I may even buy another bar.

Comment: Mint Yorkies are actually rather nice. The [unusually bright blue] mint bits all congregate in the bottom part of the bar and the upper part seems to have a slightly lighter more airy feel to it, making the Yorkie bar taste better than just the standard bar does. For my money this is actually a better buy than the Cadbury Dairy Milk mint crisp bar.

Comment: Eating one as I type. Very nice, although as with all Yorkies, far more than I can eat. The sheer blueness of the minty bits is alarming, I was expecting the reassuring green of Mint Aeros.

Comment: Apparently they're changing the recipe of Aero to make it taste more creamier, they're relaunching Aero sometime this month.

Comment: "Mint Yorkie? Yep, I'll be having one of them please" were the words uttered upon spotting this edition to the unchanged-for-some-time Yorkie line-up. Raisin and Biscuit would be hard to surpass, but I gave this a go. Snapping off a chunk of this chunky treat (in my best trucker fashion) reveals the secret of the mintiness - little blue crystal-like pieces of something or other. Essentially, it looks like one of those little disinfectant lumps that are put in gent's urinals has fallen into the vat of Yorkie chocolate and no one noticed. Not overly appealing. In the name of consumerism, I braved this visual obstacle and gave it a taste. The mintiness isn't really there, it's more of a hint of a whiff of spearmint. Not what I was expecting. The KitKat mint editions were much mintier and from the same stable. I was left feeling a little cheated. Given the choice, I will be buying Raisin and Biscuit.

Comment: Tastes like a normal Yorkie bar but with an ever so tiny hint on mint flavouring. the mint looks like blue/green shards of glass inside the bar. overall, stick to the raisin yorkie :P
