Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: The Real McCoy's Specials Confirmed sighting: The Real McCoy's Specials
Posted: 23:32 Wed 09-Mar-2005. Price: 1.29. Location: Kwik Save. Sub-flavours: Cheddar with Mango Chutney, Peppered Rib Eye Steak, Oriental Ribs, Jalapeno Chilli with Cheese. Nutritional unusualness: "This bag contains 4 servings".
"Magnetic Ham Sandwich" reports: The Real McCoy's enter the larger 160g bag crisp market with 4 upmarket flavours, made from "the finest potatoes and the finest seasonings". I've only had 2 of the 4 flavours so far (Cheddar and Chutney, and Steak and Pepper) and both taste just like you'd expect from the descriptions. The crisps are crinkly like regular McCoy's but maybe a little larger in size to go with the larger bags. The packs are all black and gold, making them stand out surprisingly well on the shop shelves. (Also makes them hard to scan so sorry about that.)

...Regular crisp correspondent "Magnetic Ham Sandwich" returns with this possibly pre-emptive response to Walker's imminent incursion into the "strongly flavoured pub crisp" territory. And in other KP Foods kreativity, "Sally" seemed unduly excited about the Sizzling Bacon Flavour Skips she located in Morrisons, Walsall (at "89 kj, 0.6g protein, 10.2g carbs, FAT 5.1g, Fibre 0.2g, Sodium 0.2g" - presumably per bag), though "Jenna Churchley-Burton" appears almost inconsolable at the lack of McCoy's Rock Salt flavour in outlets other than Swansea University Coffee Shop, inquiring of an unforgiving world: I love these so much... but have never been able to find them anywhere else but at my uni's coffee shop!! Sooo annoying, WHY, oh why are they not more widely available??

Comment: These are out in 50g bags too, along with another Specials flavour ("Thai Sweet Chicken", or possibly those words in a different order).

Comment: Thye have had these in my local Asda for the past few days. Don't feel moved to buy them. As for the rock salt did they not used to come in the multi-packs before being pushed out by chargrilled steak?

Comment: Along come two new flavours.. Mature Cheddar & Onion Chutney and Sea Salt & Black Pepper, The first is nothing special but the Salt & Pepper ones are alright, but considering they did away with the Jalapeno & Cheese Specials and replaced them with these, i'm not in the slightest happy

Comment: I went off McCoys when they did those meaty flavour multipacks, think there was a barbeque flavour in it but the whole lot were vile. Im tempted by the Mature Cheddar and Onion Chutney flavour though - but do they give you onion breath?!! They cant be any worse than cheese and onion multigrain hula hoops - I had to use mouthwash after those!!
