Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: McCain Micro Muffins Confirmed sighting: McCain Micro Muffins
Posted: 22:10 Tue 03-May-2005. Price: 1 for 4 (90g total). Location: Cool Trader, Wrexham. Sub-flavours: See below. Nutritional unusualness: 21.8g of fat in the box.
"Daniel Thornton" reports: McCain continue their plans to make it entirely possible for us to exist purely on their small black boxes of microwave foods with this nice little dessert offering. Four small muffins, each with the circumference of a bottle of Benylin but crucially a bit less than half the height, and they're heatable either in the box or individually. But let's face it, at that size you're going to cook them all. And they're going to come out with the same cardboardy taste and smell that all McCain's offerings have. They're really not filling at all unlike your proper muffins, which is a shame because otherwise these are entirely delicious. The chocolate melts nicely into the cake and really does taste of chocolate instead of the chocolate-style flavouring muck we so often suffer. Also in the range are Donut Rings "with a chocolate dip" and Jam Filled Donut Balls, both of which I have not tried but my housemate reliably informs me are "vile and go rock hard", which is a complete opposite to the fluffiness of those little muffins. I'm off to buy some more now, because I am fat.

...In other cakeful wakefulness: Kitchen Range Foods are introducing a microwaveable frozen version of their Cadbury Mini Donuts, though I didn't really feel the need to take "Dominic Sayers" up on his offer of a pic of the Mr Kipling's Blackberry and Custard Pies he located in Tesco, Leamington Spa, pondering: Are these new? I've never seen them before. I tried to search this site to find them but without success. Happy to upload image. Anyway, I have resolved to eat nothing else in future. At all.

Comment: Actually the "donuts" go totally mushy and soft. Your mate must have cooked them for half an hour by mistake.

Comment: A downside of these I noted is that if you don't eat them straight away and for instance leave one on the side for an hour, and then return to it, you will find it has hardened. Still edible, but now crunchy. Tsk.

Comment: I think you will find cheese in the centre of these if baked for 21.383835875215821825125718 minutes.
