Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Pure Nutrition Sense bar Confirmed sighting: Pure Nutrition Sense bar
Posted: 20:29 Wed 11-May-2005. Price: 39p. Location: Golders Green. Nutritional unusualness: A whopping 12.3g of protein per bar (compared to 0g in a Mars bar).
"Pollo" reports: "Pure Nutrition" runs the tag line for this rather dully named Sense bar. Hmm, well I suppose it's less legally dubious than "Pure Flavour". Very reminiscent of the old "Texan" bars these are pretty stodgy and chewy. Not unpleasant but certainly doesn't taste like it would "improve well-being throughout the day" as the spiel on the packet claims. I'd say it's arrived on the market too late to capitalise on the Atkins fad but maybe they'll be popular with the bodybuilding crowd looking to get "buff and ripped" for summer. Christ only knows what it's done to my digestive system...

...Thanks to first-time spotter "Pollo" for this somewhat cynical take on a product apparently plugged on "Celebrity Fit Club" for what are described as its "balanced nutrition and hunger destroying properties" (link to WH Smith internal news story also thoughtfully highlights that they "carry a recommended retail price of 89p with a mouth-watering retail margin of 25 per cent, equivalent to 22p per bar - almost three times a regular countline!") I'm not sure if this is what "charl" was referring to, but this week's The Grocer also has news of tiny 17.5g Cadbury Dairy Milk bars touting themselves as having "Under 99 Calories" (25p each), while Nestle are reportedly replacing the "poorly performing" Kit Kat Low Carb with a low-carb Double Chocolate bar (1.29 for 38g).

Comment: that may be it ss - i was under the impression it was a lower sugar cadbury chocolate but it may have been a smaller bar! and it's a shame they are making low carb double chocolate as the real stuff is horrid. kit kats were much better...

Comment: I think these Chocolate Sense bars are really good. I am no longer eating any chocolates or sweets and because these bars are fairly balanced and have no additional vitamins I am free to eat them as long as I have the 250 calories to spare. My problem is finding them, I did get 10x12 boxes from the manufacturer which I am still working my way through. Highly recommended 92653 2
