Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Highlights Milk Chocolate Caramel Mallows Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Highlights Milk Chocolate Caramel Mallows
Posted: 22:33 Mon 23-May-2005. Price: 1.29. Location: Sainsbury's, Brookwood. Sub-flavours: Cadbury Highlights Raspberry Wafers; also orange centre mallows. Nutritional unusualness: less than 100 kcal, 10g sugar and 3g fat per mallow.
"lex1977" reports: I guess we can expect to see a whole range of these Highlights products in all the other flavours of Highlights drinks that are in production. The caramel mallows are not significantly different to any other mallow product on the market. The only slight difference is they aren't made with cheap chocolate. It's not even obvious they have caramel in them instead of jam unless you bite them in half and inspect the colour of the goo in the middle of the mallow. As for being excited about the reduced number of calories in them - well does anyone only ever have one mallow?

..."lex1977" seems somewhat underwhelmed by these, but I thought they at least deserved some credit for (ostensibly) reducing the calorific content without (apparently) resorting to artificial sweeteners. In other semi-healthy hilarity, McVitie's are said to be launching "25% less fat" versions of their Hob Nobs, Digestives, Chocolate Digestives, and Rich Tea biscuits, while Nestle are hoping to once again boost summer chocolate consumption with After Eight Lemon Sorbet (2.79 for 300g), and Milkybar Raisins (39p for 30g).

Comment: Tried the Milkybar raisins, quite yummy but not enough in a pack. Chocolate could have been thicker too.

Comment: how, how on earth, can lemon sorbet possibly be related to after eights?? if anyone can explain this to me, i'd be extremely grateful.

Comment: Well they have orange after eights and oranges are like lemons and lemons make a nice sorbet. Or maybe it is just an excuse to mega-brand

Comment: Considering my favourite alcoholic drink is Raspberry Stoli and Coke, I wait the arrival (as it will surely wind its way over here) of Raspberry coke with great interest. A double raspbery hit with my vodka? Could be good... 31038 9
