Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: McVitie's Mini Cheddars Branston Pickle/ Quaker Seasons Honey Roast Ham Confirmed sighting: McVitie's Mini Cheddars Branston Pickle/ Quaker Seasons Honey Roast Ham
Posted: 21:41 Tue 24-May-2005. Price: 49p/ 45p. Location: Corner newsagents, Plymouth. Nutritional unusualness: 14.9g fat per bag (Mini Cheddars)/ less than 10% fat (Quaker Seasons).
"Magnetic Ham Sandwich" reports: Mini Cheddars are not so mini any more. Well the actual cheddars are the same size, but now they come in bigger 50g bags. The new Branston Pickle flavour is actually quite mellow - although you can definitely tell they are pickle flavour they are not nearly as pickle-y as they could have been, which makes them OK to consume even for people like myself who usually run the other way when they see pickle approaching them. McVitie's have also improved the flavour of their BBQ variety at the same time by the way. It is now known as New Improved Saucy BBQ flavour, but still tastes pretty much the same as before.

...No, it's not the start of another "crisp week", though "Magnetic Ham Sandwich's" interest in savouries continued with a subsequent sighting of Honey Roast Ham Quaker Seasons: After a mysterious delay of a couple of months the fourth flavour in the Quaker Seasons range has finally been released. The packs are a bright "ham" shade of pink, and the actual mini crispbreads themselves really do taste strongly of honey roast ham. Just like the other varieties in the range the flavouring is very good and they are a more healthy option than proper crisps - so everyone's a winner. I wonder who first thought of mixing pigs with honey, by the way...?

Comment: Pity me. I was just getting my addiction to these going when Tesco stopped stocking the mixed pack with them in. Now I'm stuck with original, strong cheddar and cheese & onion.
