Click pic to view comments - Semi-international sighting: Milka white chocolate/ Nestle Kit Kat Winter White Semi-international sighting: Milka white chocolate/ Nestle Kit Kat Winter White
Posted: 22:46 Mon 30-May-2005. Price: 69p for 100g. Location: Woolworths, Leeds. Sub-flavours: Milka fruit and hazelnut, Milka cream and so on. Nutritional unusualness: No vegetable fat.
"Phillerena" reports: Yum yum, Woolies are now selling a new range of Milka bars of chocolate in their stores. I've always been a big fan of Milka ever since trying it in Germany so I was pleased to see these. The one with biscuit and cream is delicious, I think in German they call it "Schoko and keks" (chocolate and biscuit), the fruit and hazelnut isn't as amazing, and the white chocolate one is lovely. Dare I say even better than Milkybar. Milka really does put the likes of Cadbury and Nestle to shame, the chocolate is smooth, creamy and delicious.

...In other albino admonitions, "Magnetic Ham Sandwich" located some (not so) "grey" imports of the hint-of-cinnamon Kit Kat White Winter in Hyper Value Plymouth, albeit emphasising: In no way is this an official "spot" as surely everyone must be suffering from Kit Kat overload by now, but Hyper Value have been selling big bags of these German Kit Kats (about 15 bars per bag) for just 1 for the last week or so. They have a definite "Christmas" taste to them - similar but nothing like as strong as the Christmas Pudding flavour we had in this country. Maybe it's the Zimtaroma listed in the ingredients. They're quite nice actually as well as being cheap - while this week's Kit Kat news concludes with this Dallas, Texas sighting of the (relatively) eagerly-awaited Nestle Kit Kat Orange and Creme.

Comment: I've spotted the new less than 99 calories range from Cadburys in Woolworths, Barnstaple. Basically it is all the usual Cadbury bars, eg, mint chips, biscuit, etc but the size of an Animal bar and more expensive!

Comment: My Woolies has them in the chiller cabinet. Also I noticed in Superdrug one of those new Kitkats that are meant to be kept chilled, but it wasn't in the chiller cabinet!

Comment: Mmmm... Milka. I bought some lovely new ones in a motorway service station in France last week. They were called Mjoy (geddit?). There was was one with nuts, whole hazelnuts, and (the memory is fading) one was crunchy caramel bits I think and the other was almonds. The full range is here: http://tinyurl.com/cbx67

They were absolutely flamin' delicious, and I agree with Phillerena that Kraft/Milka put Cadbury and Nestle to shame.

Less successful, I thought, was the Milka Tendre Frisson, which is designed to be kept in the fridge and eaten chilled. I took no pleasure in scarfing a bar of this. Frankly, I think chocolate is more enjoyable in a softer, meltier state: you get that stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth texture and a real hit of cocoa.

Comment: Hi Phillerena, They probably taste the same but the packaging is different. The box type is the same as the long sticks I have on my site now and I think the pkg is prettier. I can't remember what these tasted like before, it is has been a LONG time ago but now that the box is gone I can say they were quite delicious this time around! I will have to try to get the picture up on my site tomorrow I just don't have enough energy left tonight. Oh, also the box contains 8 sticks now. Goodnight.. from Japan zzzzzzzzz
