Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Dairy Milk Turkish Delight ice cream Confirmed sighting: Cadbury Dairy Milk Turkish Delight ice cream
Posted: 23:28 Tue 26-Jul-2005. Price: I think about 2 for a box of 4 or maybe it was two boxes for 2. Location: Sainsbury's Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Sub-flavours: Mint chips, Fruit and nut, Caramel. Nutritional unusualness: 170 kcal per 60ml, also keep frozen at -18 degrees celsius.
"jb" reports: These have been in my local Sainsbury's since at least Christmas but only with the recent heatwave did my mother (the Turkish Delight Addict) succumb. I sampled one of them and freezing seems to reduce the turkish delight to goo and it loses whatever structural integrity the stuff kept at room temperature has. The chocolate did not taste of much and the ice-cream had the texture and substance of shaving foam. The turkish delight did taste nice. And I would eat another one if I had to. What really annoyed me was the fact that it was more than a little reluctant to come out of its wrapper and be eaten. A closer examination of the wrapper revealed that these are made under licence by Frederick's Dairies. I'm guessing there's a reason why they aren't so famous.

...It's a bit tricky to work out what's going on in "jb's" photo here, but here's a pic of the "Fruit and Nut" version, which should silence any doubters, hopefully. Oh, and the McDonald's Lion McFlurry has already been replaced by a Cadbury Caramel one, possibly the most authentic-tasting ice-cream re-creation of a chocolate bar since the heyday of the Creme Egg variety.

Comment: I feel I should explain the photo. It was a scan of one of the individual wrappers. The little blighter seemed to want to cave in on itself in a manner not dissimilar to a black hole.

Comment: The Cadbury Mint Pieces ice cream bars are revolting. They have a disinfectant taste about them.

Comment: I sort of agree about caramel flurry's, they're good most of the time but quality does seem to fluctuate quite a bit depending on which highly skilled member of McD's staff makes it ;-)

Comment: So this is Turkish delight pieces in vanilla ice cream, is it?

Shame - I'd love to be able to get hold of that ice cream that's actually TD-flavoured itself that you can occasionally find in some '2 billion flavours' ice cream cafés. Lovely stuff! 50504 9 83
