Posted: 21:12 Mon 01-Aug-2005. Price: 40p. Location: Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Sub-flavours: Hot Tamales Fire. Nutritional unusualness: No fat per serving but 55g of carbs.
"jb" reports: I came across these "Chewy Cinnamon Flavored Candies" (please note that they are artificially flavored) in a local shop. I am fairly certain judging by the spelling used on the packet that they are not of British origin. So I thought that I would try them. I can report that you get around 30 red large jelly bean shaped sweets inside the packet. They are chewy and they taste like cinnamon lozenges only a little hotter. I was rather impressed so I went back to buy more and I also got the "New!" fire variety but I have yet to sample these.

..."jb" returns with what claims to be "America's favorite chewy cinnamon-flavored candy" (from the makers of Marshmallow Peeps) - while "Mr Peace" seemed only able to provide a publicity pic of the After Eight Bar which cost him "15 RMB" in Beijing, China, tracing its trans-continental origins as follows: This Canadian offering was found in a store in the Embassy district of Beijing, indicating that this could well be replacing Ferrero Rocher soon as the Ambassador's chocolate of choice. Unfortunately for this field tester it is slightly too thick to reproduce the full "after dinner" wafer-thin mint effect and not quite filling enough to enter the much coveted "Bounty" category. This bar is one strictly for the hard core mint/ choco aficionados. Still, I like the fact that the wrapping is bilingual (English/ French) despite the bar being sold in China.

Comment: Can't remember it's name, but there is a shop recently opened in Cleethorpes that stocks loads of American products too - including a range of sweets and chocolate.

Comment: There's only 2 streets in Cleethorpes town centre so you can't really miss it. It's the one down the side from Woolworths where all the charity shops are. I actually didn't buy anything there because it was all overpriced for what it is. And Hershey chocolate tastes like soap, almost every other bar seemed to contain that brown slime they call peanut butter, and Taffy although tasty does take all your fillings out.

Comment: The shop in cleethorpes is "big licks" and it's down Saint Peters Avenue. I admit they are slightly dear but hey I like to treat myself every now and again :)
