Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Nestle After Eight Lemon Sorbet/ After Eight Straws Confirmed sighting: Nestle After Eight Lemon Sorbet/ After Eight Straws
Posted: 18:25 Mon 08-Aug-2005. Price: both 1.99. Location: Woolworths, Chesterfield. Nutritional unusualness: May contain traces of milk/ 25 calories per straw.
"charl" reports: I'm not a fan of the Orange After Eights (bland and boring), but they seem to have got the balance right with these lemon sorbet ones. The tangy lemon works very well with the plain chocolate. I'm not sure why they felt the need to call it "sorbet" when it's a fondant cream just like the others, but overall these are rather fantastic.

...I'd hoped to grab a box of Nestle's latest lemony summer special in my local Woolies, but they disappeared fairly quickly (along with some rarely seen - "Cool Mint"? - white chocolate Matchmakers). But Nestle clearly aren't overlooking the "stick-shaped minty chocolate" market, as "charl" also spotted these After Eight Straws for the same price in the same Woolies, warning: Whilst loitering in Woolworths' chocolate section on a Snackspot mission, a woman walked up and grabbed two boxes of these. She told me she couldn't decide whether to get two or three boxes and that they were fantastic. She lied. The mint to chocolate ratio is all wonked out in these - too much mint means it's like eating toothpaste straws. The packaging is quite good though.

Comment: were the orange ones plain chocolate or milk chocolate? i normally love chocolate and orange together but the orange ones just didn't taste orangey to me at all. the lemon ones are zingy and great. odd that we would find them so different, phillerena...

Comment: These lemon ones are quite yummy. I described them as Lockets covered in chocolate, but everyone else who tried them thought I was mad. You should all go to Woolworths and buy some. Now. I'll wait for you to get back...

Comment: The lemon after eights are delicious. Thus to me making it the first lemon chocolate I'd buy again. I have the after eights straws but have yet to try them.

Comment: They're plain choc charl. Maybe I need to try some more lemon After Eights but they tasted weak to me. If they did a lovely cherry After Eight I think I'd be more impressed.

Comment: Can't find a hint of lemon in these, taste more of mint to me. Won't be buying them again. The orange ones, however, are lovely.

Comment: The new Irish Cream flavour After Eights [as seen in this years Woolworths Christmas catalogue for £2.69 by the way] are now on the shop shelves. I saw some in the Co-op today.

I nearly threw up after tasting the lemon ones.

That is all.
