Click pic to view comments - Semi-international sighting: Unilever/ Miko Lemon Sorbet Cornetto Semi-international sighting: Unilever/ Miko Lemon Sorbet Cornetto
Posted: 19:31 Mon 22-Aug-2005. Price: 6 for 1. Location: Cool Trader, Wrexham. Nutritional unusualness: 18% Lemon Juice, 9% Reconstituted Lemon Juice.
"Daniel Thornton" reports: Unilever and Walls hate you. They really do. Proof of this is the Lemon Sorbet Cornetto, destined only for the French market. While our friendly national variant of the big multinational Unilever company inflict endless complicated but ultimately bland variants on us, the French get something simple and bloody gorgeous. Lemon sorbet with syrupy lemon sauce drizzled carefully by machine all around the top and right through the middle. It's refreshing and tasty and you really couldn't ask for more in something like this. The only downside is the cone is a lot softer than the UK-destined packs, but that could equally be down to the Short-Date nature of these imports so I'm not going to dock points for that.

..."Daniel's" international ice-cream odyssey continues with this French fancy - while, in other dessert-related developments, The Grocer magazine announces that Haagen Dazs has unleashed a Summer Berries and Cream flavour (exclusive to video rental shops, made from "lucent red raspberries, fresh strawberries, and luscious blueberries and blackberries") to accompany other semi-seasonal varieties like Panna Cotta and Raspberry (all 4.19).

Comment: Lemon sorbet...Sure it would be nice to try them, but it's nothing special is it? I actually like a soft Cone. Because as a child I used to eat the Ice cream, and work at getting it all from inside the cone aswell in whatever way possible. By which time the cone had gone soggy, and I unwrapped it into a big piece of wafery goodness.

Comment: Oh, they've had these in Germany for a decade! Under another name though. er. That I can't remember. Still, though.

They are great, and everything. 6831 4 26
