Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Coca-Cola Ipsei Confirmed sighting: Coca-Cola Ipsei
Posted: 23:57 Wed 21-Sep-2005. Price: something like 1.29 for 500ml. Location: Boots near Green Park station, London. Nutritional unusualness: 5.8g sugar per 100ml.
Snackspot reports: Something of an update to "Lee Maguire's" advance warning of this - yes, I've reused his picture, but I did have to go all the way to the Green Park branch of Boots to work out that the smaller text on the label says "Red Grape and Rooibos Extracts - Vitamins and Natural Antioxidants from Red Grapes". Personally I wasn't sure if I could really taste the Rooibos (a "naturally caffeine-free" and "low in tannin" herb which, apparently, "can be enjoyed in unlimited quantities") - still, all credit to Coca-Cola for creating another "mid-calorie" drink with about half the sugar content of typical sodas, complete with the faint - but unique - flavour of a melted red ice-pop.

...In other ostensibly "healthy" refreshments: The Grocer magazine notes that Tetley are launching a "no added sugar" version of T Of Life Light (99p for 500ml, in Raspberry and Cranberry, Peach and Orange, Tropical, or Lemon and Lime); Derby-based "Islamic cola" makers Qibla Cola has gone into receivership; and brewers Greene King have produced apple-flavoured ale Ruddles Orchard, described as "similar to its popular Ruddles County - but with a touch of apple", intended "to complement seasonal dishes like honey roast vegetables and bangers and mash".

Comment: I think that Ipsei is a cool product though i have not tried it yet. My dad is a psychologist and Coca-Cola asked him to do a study to see if people would interprete Ipsei a Pepsi product. He proved that some people (including me at first)would, but helped to make sure that they were still allowed to call it Ipsei. It was really interesting and we got some free Ipsei!

Comment: Ipsei is VILE. I bought some from Home Bargains the other day as they were selling it off real cheap, but it's the most minging drink I have tasted.

Comment: I love ipsei. Boots in Leeds has stopped selling it and Home Bargains in Huddersfield has out of date bottles for 19p each. It's a shame to see it go, especially if it's over some Pepsi v Coca Cola legal wrangle.
