Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Kellogg's Special K Purple Berries Confirmed sighting: Kellogg's Special K Purple Berries
Posted: 22:20 Mon 03-Oct-2005. Price: 2.59/ 375g box (but currently on "Buy 2, save 1"). Location: Sainsbury's, Finchley Road, London. Nutritional unusualness: "99% fat free", 14g sugar in 30g serving with 125ml of semi-skimmed milk .
Snackspot reports: Already my favourite of the many different versions of Special K of the past few years, assuming you can blot out the memory of those god-awful "You're a real loser" TV ads - maybe they should try setting them to Beck's 1994 debut, "I'm A Loser, Baby (So Why Don't You Kill Me?)". The "purple berries" are freeze-dried blackcurrants, blueberries and surprisingly giant full-size blackberries - this is also the first Special K box I've seen to be decorated with lipstick kisses, though maybe that's more to do with the contest to "Win A 'Cosmopolitan' Makeover - Every Friday!" (which I haven't entered, as I could probably make it along to the first few, but *every* Friday is slightly too much of a commitment for me).

...While, in other cereal-shaped supposition, "Lee Maguire" theorises: I saw a new cereal yesterday, Kellogg's Tiger Power (from Frosties), with a red box featuring Tony the Tiger. The cereal (based on the illustration) appeared to be very similar to frosted Mini Shredded Wheat. But googling for "Tiger Power" suggests Kellogg have just launched a cereal of that name in the US, but the box illustration suggests it's actually the cereal known as "Kellogg's Start" in the UK. Kellogg may need to do a Mars-style "Crisis on Infinite Brandnames" to sort this mess out.
