Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Kettle Chips White Stilton And Apricot Confirmed sighting: Kettle Chips White Stilton And Apricot
Posted: 12:24 Tue 01-Nov-2005. Price: 1.29. Location: Tesco, Peterborough. Nutritional unusualness: Contains Real English White Stilton.
"Flavour Monkey" reports: This is the very latest addition to the Kettle range - using the old-style packaging - Kettle are slowly changing over to a new style of bag akin to their American brand. Anyhoo - this is an exclusive to Tesco and looks to be a seasonal launch. If you don't like the Kettle crunch then you won't like these, but I thought they were fantastic and had a lovely smooth authenticity of White Stilton Cheese, with a background sweetness of apricot. If you're a fan of the flavoured stiltons from the cheese counter, then you should give these a try!

..."Flavour Monkey" returns with what I assume is the last of Kettle Chips' blue-cheese-based dabbling (for now) - while "Clintonium" confides: I was digging around on the Procter and Gamble website (just how any obsessed Pringles fan spends his lunch, right?) and I came across a PDF document that appears to provide the names of some new Pringles flavors still in the pipeline. If you wade through the list you'll notice these four flavors that I've never heard of before: Cheesy Quesadilla; Guacamole; Mesquite Barbecue; Taco. Since the certification period mentioned in the document runs from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006, perhaps this is a first glimpse of Pringles flavors that are scheduled for release in the US (and possibly elsewhere) over the next year. Maybe as part of the current "Flavor Fest" or "American Road Trip" series? Freaks like me can only hope.

Comment: I found the little orange Apricot flakes on the crisps a little tricky to get used to. The worlds of fruit and crisps are so rarely combined in a pleasing fashion. Having said that, the Wensleydale Cheese & Cranberry flavour Kettle Chips were very nice. Tescos have also got very tasty Brie & Cranberry handcooked crisps out as a special edition in their Temptations range this Christmas if you like that sort of thing. My only reservation being that the crisps are very pink, supposedly to make you think there is tons of actual Cranberry flavouring on them, but infact it's all a cunning deception weaved with the aid of beetroot powder.

Comment: pink crisps - could be very appealing to the more girlish amongst us... none of that beetroot powder in the Kettle Wensleydale and Cranberry though - I do really like the cranberry flecks (haven't seen the apricot ones, they're harder to imagine) - very pretty and festive. the cheese flavour's quite delicate though, I really like it but it's probably not for hardcore crack cheese fans

Comment: Talking about pink crisps, Marks & Spencer have topped the lot. Their special seasonal edition flavour this year is Highland Burgundy Red with Mulled Wine & Cranberry. As if the dried Cranberrys weren't enough, M&S have added real red wine extract and ground Cinnamon to the crisps. And best of all the Highland Burgundy Red potatoes used are just as red as they sound - a deep maroon colour. Once you've put your shades on and actually sampled the crisps in the bag, you will be impressed with the flavour and crunch. All the promised flavours are present and clearly discernable. Pricey, at £1.99 for a 120g bag, but a true crisp for connoisseurs.

Comment: I had some of the M&S green and white tortilla chips the other day. they come in a nice Christmassy bag. Sadly, several of the white stars had their edges snapped off, and most of the green holly leaves were broken too so you couldn't see what the shapes were meant to be.

Comment: What is this Major Cheese Fetish that kettlefoods have got?

Double Gloucester - Mature Cheddar - Wensleydale - White Stilton - Buffalo Mozzarella - Blue Stilton

This is a clear case of Cheese Fetishism

I'm going off this company real fast

Comment: Kettle crisps made a range in the UK a couple of years ago and they were Port and Stilton and they were the best crisps i had ever tasted, now it's Stilton and apricot, very nice but not the same twang.I wonder why crisps that actually hit the taste buds are only popular in winter? I like lamb and mint flavour but prefer to eat a meal instead of crisps,2 bags a week and im happy. 49652 3
