Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Fruit-tella Caramel Confirmed sighting: Fruit-tella Caramel
Posted: 23:39 Wed 02-Nov-2005. Price: 53p. Location: Wilkinson's, Sheffield. Nutritional unusualness: Sugar free, contains "caustic sulphite caramel".
"charl" reports: Working on the theory that I've never met a Fruit-tella I didn't like, I was quite excited about these caramels even though they mark an obvious departure for the company (no fruit). On a scale of 1 to 10 I was 9 (very disappointed). These are hard caramels which are very similar to ones already on the market from Sula. The flavour is pretty good, but that doesn't make up for the fact that, like a child on Christmas Eve, I wanted to open the box and find chewy.

..."charl" makes her own unique contribution here to the ongoing National Toffee Week 2005 - a celebration also marked by the launch of Kraft Terry's Caramel Bite (49p for 56g "twin bar"), plus "Sandy's" as-yet unsubstantiated spot of Rolo Creme Caramel in Smile, Julian Road, Bath, alleging: Nestle have done it again with another variant of one of their products. Looks similar to the Irish Cream version but it's basically just normal Rolos with white chocolate instead of milk. I didn't buy it as I have to slim down for my Xmas party dress so hence no photo, sorry!

Comment: i should add that over the weekend in 'the chocolate box' at whitby i found three more flavour variants of these: lemon cream, strawberry cream and coffee, but i haven't tried them yet as i have a cold and can't taste anything.

Comment: I've had a further look at the Rolos and as "charl" says they are called Caramel and Cream not creme caramel as i first thought. They have layers of cream inside it says on the packaging.

Comment: ATTENTION ALL WHITE CHOCOLATE LOVERS. The new Caramel & Cream Rolos are totally amazing. They're in the latest 'Any-4-for-£1' offer at Woolworths, and without messing with the other bars on offer, I grabbed 4 packs of these tasty Rolos. The thick white chocolate covers a soft caramel filling and it all melts in your mouth. Your tastebuds will be thanking you for weeks if you try these Rolos..... 90319 53
