Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Ben And Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Low Fat Frozen Yogurt Confirmed sighting: Ben And Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Low Fat Frozen Yogurt
Posted: 13:18 Thu 03-Nov-2005. Price: 3.99. Location: Sainsbury's, Southampton. Sub-flavours: Cherry Garcia Frozen Yogurt. Nutritional unusualness: 8% chocolate frozen yogurt, 13% chocolate brownie pieces.
"choccieman" reports: Eventually we get some of the decent B+J's flavours across from the US (look at their website and see how many amazing flavours we don't have yet though :-(. In keeping with the trend for "healthier" products B+J's bring us their frozen yogurts, less calories, less fat same great taste? Well almost, whilst the yogurt is nowhere near as good as normal B+J's ice cream this lacking is covered up by the increased chocolate flavouring used. It actually tastes more chocolatey than the normal full fat ice cream version! Got some of the Cherry Garcia in the freezer but haven't tried it yet. If, like me, you tend to eat B+J's a tub at a time this version of CFB will keep you 200kcals lighter, and as it's mostly carbs you can burn it off more easily with some "everyday sport" ;-) Well done B+Js, although I reckon most of their other flavours wouldn't translate so well to yogurt.

...A characteristically extensive appreciation here from "choccieman", to which I'll only add that Burger King have added these 99p "BKool" McFlurry-alikes to their menu, while Cadbury have reportedly already launched a Dairy Milk with Orange Chips ice-cream bar and Cadbury Creme Egg ice-cream stick (both available now at 1.99 for pack of three, or 1 each from January of next year).

Comment: Spotted at Tesco Eastville in Bristol. Haven't tried it yet, but I noticed this is UK only (none of the weird translations on the back). It also (finally) includes nutrition information, something I haven't been able to find at all on the real stuff.

Haven't opened it yet...

Comment: is frozen yoghurt actually nice? never tried it on the assumption that it would be a bit punitive, like low calorie wine or something - doesn't it defeat the object? guess my question is - is this a nice frozen yoghurt (i.e. probably not for me), or is it nice and just happens to be frozen yoghurt? (in which case I might try it)

Comment: Just opened the pot. I have to agree with Laura about the brownie, it *is* better. It's slightly chewier and less gloopy, a lot more like a real brownie.

The yogurt... its interesting. I have tasted it before. It's not Mr. Whippy, its something else, but I can't put my finger on it. Its less thick than the real B+J ice cream, more airy and crystally (not in an horrificly cheap ice cream way, just different). It's still very nice, and with the health "benefits" and the better brownie, I would buy this over the normal stuff.

I agree with choccieboy about the flavouring, it is stronger and I don't think will translate well to anything other than the Big Three of Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry.
